I have been told it deflects police radar - is this true?

Ha ha ha. No it doesn't deflect police radar. Why do people hang anything from their mirror? Why do people do anything? I don't know. Maybe they like the light reflecting in their eyes occasionally or something.

Because some people advertise on CD's believe it or not... Sports teams and what not so ppl hang them in their cars at least the one's I've seen.
I think it's the dumbest thing EVER! It looks tacky.
Then again maybe some just don't want to lose their favorite CD!

Because they would like to blind other drivers and cause wrecks. I hate when people do that.
It does not deflect police radar, someone is lying to you.
