It's a heel spur, not spirt. It's a small piece of bone that forms, usually from some type of induced trauma (like running on pavement, etc.) It's basically an overgrowth in one small area of your "heel bone" (aka calcaneus).

I think what you are reffering to is a bone growth in the heel. When you wear shoes that have a very high arch, like high heels, or when you are walking on shoes that are too flat, a heel spirt develops. This is not just a pain, it is a bone growth and may be treated with surgery. My mother has it, and it kinda looks like a hook growing from your bone.
If you have it, the best thing to do is keep it iced 3 times a day, for 30 min each time. Wear shoes with an arch, made custom. There are exercises you can do to reduce the pain, and surgery is recomended for less than 5% of those who have it. See a doctor for more advice.

I think you mean a "heel Spur".
Definition
The heel bone is the largest bone in the foot and absorbs the most amount of shock and pressure. A heel spur develops as an abnormal growth of the heel bone. Calcium deposits form when the plantar fascia pulls away from the heel area, causing a bony protrusion, or heel spur to develop. The plantar fascia is a broad band of fibrous tissue located along the bottom surface of the foot that runs from the heel to the forefoot. Heel spurs can cause extreme pain in the rearfoot, especially while standing or walking.

It is a bone spur. A small piece of bone is growing in your foot and it is usually painful. You need to go to a podiatrist. He will show you an x-ray of it. If it is very painful it will have to be removed.
