I would like to try it, but it looks very intimidating. How long does it take to get really good at it?

Simply put, no. It's not hard to learn. It is hard, however, to perfect. It only takes as long as it takes for you to learn to adapt your body to the movements. So increasing your general physical condition and balance are KEY!!!

But it's worth it. LOADS of fun!

Well I won't try and discredit anyone's answer to this question because for some people things come really easy to them but for others it may take a bit longer. I tried Capoeira and did it for about 3 months. The basic move you will learn is called the Jenga and you will work on that at first. I thought Capoeira was a little tough because my leg muscles weren't so strong at first but once you get pass that, its fun. It is definitely a physically demanding art and you will get into good shape while doing it. If you stick with it and practice it like 2-3 times a week, I think you will be pretty good at it after about a year. Good luck!

Capoeira is an art/dance/sport that does not require an special stereotype. You might be tall, short, skinny, fat, old or young, it doesn't matter. What matter is how much you want to learn and how much effort you want to make to get there! I have been doing Capoeira for 4/5 years and I have seen children, women, men, old an young. Everyone has a different result, but the results aren't linked to the age or body structure, it's linked to their own efforts. "There is not good Capoeirista, there is trained Capoeirista."

my husband has been training in Capoeira for about 3 years and he's pretty good. Our friend, Puff, taught him and he's been training for about 5 or 6 years. It can be difficult, but if you start anything at your own pace it gets easier.

in order to do many of the acrobatic moves you must be very fit and conditioned. you need to be strong and have endurance. its tough to master the moves.
