It depends on the reason. If he isn't doing chores just to see what he can get away with, or to rebel against doing chores, he is being rebellious. If he is doing it because he doesn't feel like working, he is just plain lazy. Either way, that sounds like a typical 15-year-old.

It may be that your child is normal or he could have some problems. If he fits the following he may have Oppositional Defiance Disorder
The criteria for ODD are:
A pattern of negativistic, hostile, and defiant behavior lasting at least six months during which four or more of the following are present:
1. Often loses temper
2. often argues with adults
3. often actively defies or refuses to comply with adults' requests or rules
4. often deliberately annoys people
5. often blames others for his or her mistakes or misbehavior
6. is often touchy or easily annoyed by others
7. is often angry and resentful
8. is often spiteful and vindictive
The disturbance in behavior causes clinically significant impairment in social, academic, or occupational functioning.

Join the Parents of the Living Hormones, honey! God knows you need prayer. Stick to your guns and don't cut his *** any slack!!! He needs tough love now, and he needs his Dad around. Find out what he cherishes the most (his "currency") and use it; take it away when he doesn't do his chores. Is it his video games? His cell phone? Hey, you have the power to take it ALL away!!! He will pitch a fit, but so what? Either that, or get use to visiting him in jail once a week.

a boy at 15 is a king without a kingdom. it doesnt mean he knows what to do with one though. It means he is totally normal. Keep on him to do his share of the work, and to be a functional person who can do things with his own thought and man-power. He just THINKS hes grown, youre the parent and have to keep teaching him until he really is.

Thats a pretty minor case of rebellion. Rebellion is outrightly doing the opposite of what your parents tell you or expect of you. If you want him to listen then make sure he knows that if he doesn't listen there will be reprocussions. Just because he's a teen doesn't mean he can do what he wants - you are still the parent.

No I do not that is the age where all boys start to act out and they may not be helpful like they once were but, they will get over themselves soon enough and start helping again.
