The New Insprired Version of the bible. When Joseph Smith Jr. was translating the Book Of Mormon, he came across a passage in Nephi's vision about a book that was missing the 'plain and precious' parts of the gospel (read in the BOM, I Nephi 3:157 to at least 170, but further if you are interested). In my religion, we believe that the book being reffered to is the King James version of the bible. (The passage talks about the Gentiles that were delivered out of captivity, meaning religious captivity, which we believe are the Puritans or pilgrims since they left Europe because of a religious bondage. The King James version of the bible is what they brought with them) After Smith figured this out, he was inspried by God to go through the whole bible and was instructed to put back those 'plain and precious' things. Because God inspried Smith to do this, we have the New Inspired Version, which I believe is the most accurate bible, according to God.
Also, there is a bible available (I forget the name, but I'm sure you can find it) that compares the KJV with the NIV verse by verse and column by column. There are pages of the KJV missing, at least compared to the NIV. Is this all the 'plain and precious' stuff that was missing? I believe so. But really, all you have to do is ask - Luke 11:10 NIV

When I'm just reading it (for fun I guess you could say), I like the NIV. When I run across something that really catches my attention, I'll compare it to the Living Bible and the original KJV. Sometimes I'll even go online and look at several different versions of that one verse. I've found that they really are NOT all that different though.....not like some people would have you to believe. It seems to me that many people think they're saying something different because the reader can't understand the wording of one of the versions. But for the most part they're pretty similar.

Personally, I prefer the New International Version (NIV) because of it's plain language. I also like the New King James Version (NKJV)...It's wording is really good too.
Ofcourse, it all depends in whatever you're use to. I know some people who won't read anything but the KJV.

The parallell: it has the KJV, as well as the amplified version running...well...parallell to each other. This makes reading the very first english translated word of God much easier because you can look back and forward at it to reference to each other. Also, you should get a strongs dictionary for in depth study. It gives every word in the KJV, references every scripture that it is used in, and give the Hebrew and Greek word and translation of each word. It helps you to understand even more just how deep the word of God is, and reveals how many different meanings just one statement that God makes contains.

I think that the today's english version bible is the best 'cause it translates the bible into terms that are very easily understood.

The King James Version is the best worded. The phraseology that it uses is insurpassable.
It far exceeds Shakespeare or any other writings.
It makes all other translations and versions look pale.

Does it matter what your favorite is? The origional Hebrew text is the only true text, untranslated. And you know what.... It's still a bunch of crap.
Hello... listen to yourselvs. You're talking about the same book, supposedly writen by the hand of God himself, and you are wondering what "version" is best! Do you see the error of your ways???
Just kill yourselves now and all your questions will have answers.
