Every sensible nation should be developing nuclear power capacity to reduce the use of carbon based fuel - though Iran would be the last nation to ever need an alternative source given it has one of the very largest oil reserves in the world. It wants nuclear plant capacity because nuclear plants generate waste radioactive material that is used to make WMDs. This is obvious because they do not wish to have any oversight by any world atomic watchdogs. Problem: Iran has been unstable ever since Jimmy Carter pulled the plug on the secular ruling Shah back about 1978.. leading to the US Embassy takover and the Theocracy of mullahs that followed. The Shia and Wahabist stated goal is to destroy Israel and "the infidels". Duh. We are the infidels. I think there are a LOT of nervous Iranians these days... not because of the USA, but because of their own leadership.

It would take volumes to explain and have an answer that would do the this great question a good answer. However, the short version is, we are all for Iran to get into the atomic age and even give them help to set it up.
They (He) wants to process and make it weapons grade.
what will we do about it now. He will sell his bomb making stuff to Terrorist because he is one himself
He puts nuclear bomb in the head of the rockets and wipes out any country that will not side with him. Iserial will be first,, he already said that on the news.

It isn't the nuclear plants they have a problem with, it is the supply infrastructure that can be easily used to build nuclear weapons. With no ICBM ability, the only place they would use nukes is in the middle east, where all the oil is. The chances of a terrorist targeting the U.S. is slim, cause it is our policy to answer WMD's with WMD's, and the whole place could be an atomic fireball. U.S. intelligence can't fully predict the actions of Iranian governance, or ensure their stability, and neither can any other country. This causes a legitimate fear. I can't agree with the diplomacy of the situation, but it is evident why the U.S. would be against the development of a nuclear production infrastructure.

Iran President said "he would wipe Israel off the face of the earth".
They do not plan to use atomic energy to rid the Earth of Israel.
He is a madman.

First of all you need some schooling and to get off your damn computer! In case you didn't know it, Iran is sitting on one of the richest oil feilds in the world, what could they possibly need atomic energy for? Secondly, they already have said that they, like Saddam in Iraq, would like to destroy Isreal one of our allies. Thirdly if Iran was to obtain atomic fuels whether for energy or military purposes do you think we could honestly trust those deceitful sons of bitches!!! Irans President is a known terrorist who helped hijack a plane in the seventies, do you trust him?????

We don't care if Iran has nuclear engery, but the uranium they were looking into was more typically used for weapons, not energy, and that's never a good thing. You notice now that Amercia has agreed to HELP with Iran's nuclear ENERGY program.

Iran does not have a stable government. You may have heard in the news recently that their leader threatened to destroy Israel.
Remember, this is the same country that held 52 American hostages for 444 days in 1979 to 1981.
