I just moved from NM to TX with a friend and she lives on 3rd floor of the apartment building, there are people living under us and I’ve been trying to teach my son not to run or jump... we used to live in a single story house and he's not used to it, but how do I teach him that it's not ok to do the things that he used to do in our old house? The poor lady down stairs has already said something to my roommate, and I feel really bad... my son is not a bad kid, and he's only 2.5 years old...

Oh, Honey! I feel for you!!!! I moved in with my 88 yr old mother with my 4 yr old son. Talk about being caught in the middle!!! Your son is still a baby. The lady downstairs moved into a downstairs apartment. Hello, let's get real. You cannot force a 2 yr old to not run or play and you shouldn't have to. Out of consideration for your downstairs neighbor, take the kid out to play as often as possible to burn off energy. Also, take him (along with a coffee cake) to meet your downstairs neighbor. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm guessing your little boy is a baby doll. Let her get to know him. Invite her to the park with you and your child. Don't punish your child for being a child. Learn how to work it! Good luck, Sweetie!!!

Well don't feel too bad for the lady downstairs. She did move into an apartment building also. There are certain things that just are the way they are in apartments. EVERYONE has to put up with some stuff they don't like. Like you said , he's only 2 and a half. Trying to get him to stop is going to be virtually impossible. Just explain his age to the lady and that you're working with him. If she still can't understand, I think she should move in the country where she can have some peace and that you shouldn't worry too much about it.
