Catholics apparently are confused over what is real and what is symbolic. Take for instance, the issue of the communion where they believe the wafer actually becomes the literal Body of Christ and the wine His Blood. So maybe the perverted priests think that the screams of the poor innocent lambs they rape are not real, but unsubstantial , as are the emotional, physical, spiritual scars they have inflicted.

idelbud; your comment has merit, it is indeed my "real desire to debase the beliefs that Catholics hold most sacred", if indeed one of them is the sexual abuse of it's youngest adherents, which seems to be what you are defending, as well as all those who continue to support the Catholic church by their attendance, financial support and tacit condoning of such reprobate conduct by its priests.

Real, real, real. Emotional pain is real.

It's called betrayal in the highest degree. When someone entrusted with your protection fails to protect you from himself--especially when that person is supposed to represent God--it leaves a deep emotional and spiritual wound.

In some cases, physical pain may have been inflicted, too, especially if there was penetration.

I'm not a boy and no one abused me in the name of God, but I did tally up a few "minor" incidents of sexual abuse between 9-14. I feel some pain over those incidents. Imagine what it must be like to be majorly betrayed by a "father" figure such as a priest?

OK Michael, I went back and read some more of your questions. You obviously get a kick out of posing questions designed to be hurtful, especially to people of religions you don't care for.

So, YOU are the arbiter of what constitutes a proper religious belief?

We get your point: you don't like Catholics, you don't like the idea of the Eucharist and you think tossing out questions about altar boys and priests and sexual abuse will skewer us all!

Pray tell Michael...which religious beliefs are acceptable in your opinion?

(We breathlessly await your answer so we'll know EXACTLY what we should believe)

Re. Your update: Your further commentary is childish, incoherent and clearly reveals your real desire to debase the beliefs that Catholics hold most sacred.

I wouldn't expect you to want to approach the subject from a balanced and informed pespective. But, perhaps some of your less ignorant answerers would like to read up on the subject of sexual abuse by members of the clergy from all denominations. Try this article (among dozens that have been written reaching the same conclusion):

The priests who commit the evil deeds don't look at it in any other way than a satisfaction of their lust and need to exert power over these children. They probably don't rationalize or justify it spiritually, they know what they do is wrong which is why they hide their dirty deeds.

The other priests who aren't doing the molesting may justify it by rationalizing that it is symbolic and proof that Satan is trying to bring down the church by causing 'men of God' to go against their divine nature and commit these awful crimes, that I can definitely see.

It's real and it sucks-in more ways than one!!! That's one of the main reasons I'm not Catholic anymore. I had to go to Catholic grade school . I just thank God I'm female & I didn't have to be a boy toy for the priest!

Ever had your bung-hole turned out by a priest 40 years your senior? And he doesn't even have the decency to get you loosened up with some sacrificial wine?
THAT PAIN IS REAL!
