About two months ago, I was diagnosed with mononucleosis, but even then, my doctor told me that I was in the "recovery phase". Omg, this tiredness can not still be from that can it? Shouldn't I be over it? I know I can rule out some things...pregnancy is definately one of them. But I am always tired, and it's taking away from my life. I can't perform in school, at work, with the family, or anything the way I used to. What could possibly be wrong?
If anyone has any information about Mono, and how long it will take me to be okay agian, I would greatly appreciate that too. Thanks so much! God bless!

Yes, the fatigue you are still experiencing COULD be from mono.
I was out of school for 6 months when I had mono in junior high.
Let me tell you, it was ROUGH. I know a girl who had mono our
10th grade year--she was diagnosed in January and wasn't back until November. She had to repeat 10th grade because of it. I got
lucky when I had it--I was diagnosed early in the school year and
when I got back I was put into a resource room so I could work on all of my back work. It took me 3 weeks to catch up so I could join my class. It sucked--but at least I didn't have to be held back a grade because of it.
Have you talked to your doctor about this? If you have fatigue that is taking away from your life then I think you need to talk to your doctor about it, if you haven't already. Your doctor might be able to tell you some things that can help with the fatigue. More importantly, your doctor can do tests to make sure your fatigue isn't from something other than mono. There are lots of other illnesses that can cause your fatigue--there's chronic fatigue syndrome and anemia for instance. Seeing your doctor to pinpoint your fatigue is the best thing you can do for yourself--you can find the source and rule out a more serious cause.
Take care, and I will keep you in my prayers for God to help heal you.

I had mono and it was the absolute worse thing that ever happened to me. I don't really have a solution or can tell you how long you are going to feel that way. Try getting out and forcing yourself to go for walks. Take in some sun (if there's any where you are) and talk to your doctor about how you are feeling. Proper nutrition and exercise are key to rebounding from something so harsh as mono. Even if you are tired, force yourself to get 20 minutes or so of light aerobic activity. Good luck!

Hi,
I don't know much about mono but I think it's only supposed to take 4 to 6 weeks to recover, but maybe you should ask your doctor. I actually just looked it up because I have just been tested for strep and the doc said if it's negative, he'll test for mono. So, I did a search on yahoo. Maybe it's chronic fatigue syndrome or Lyme Disease. Just a thought. Hope you feel better!

it can take 6 months to a year to fully recover from mono and tiredness is the key feature
there is no easy cure - you do need simply to make sure you get more sleep, eat really well and get yourself fit
try and have a little nap in the middle of the day as well

Mono can linger for as much as a year, although rare. Make sure you take a good look at your diet, take a daily vitamin, and force yourself to exercise. If that doesn't help, see your doctor again.

You're still recovering but if doesn't clear up in six months, go have your thyroid checked. I was tired for 2 years straight and finally got diagnose with a hyper-thyroid condition. Many women have thyroid disorders but never place two and two together.

Before you start taking a lot of pills I would consider maybe a change of diet. Try using some detox supplements to clean you body of metals. I get tiered when I don't exercise, maybe you could try some cardio or light weight lifting.

I have heard myself that it can take up to one year to recover completely from Mono. The end is in sight! Until then, I would definitely search the net; msn.com search engine is good.

Diet is important. You need to eat very healthy and get some supplemental vitamins as well. If you are not physically active, start doing so now.
