I'm about to go babysit a very rowdy 7-year-old girl and her equally rowdy 10-year-old brother. Does anyone have any ideas on games to play, things to keep them quiet, etc.? Please?

Try teaching them some new games that you think they would enjoy. Check with the parents about taking them to a movie or a park. If it's hot outside let them play in a sprinkler.

Play outside! That way, you don't have to worry about cleaning up any big messes. Personally, when I'm sitting for wild kids, I'll take them to a local park that has a playground. Set up an obstacle course (ex: Slide down the slide, skip to the monkey bars, go across the monkey bars skipping every other bar, etc.) and time the kids using a stopwatch while they complete it. Return to their house once it starts to get dark, and read them a book before they go to bed. I'd reccomend the book "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" for kids that age. If they aren't into reading, play a card game like Crazy Eights or Go Fish. If you are enthusiastic, the kids will love you!

Arts and crafts of any kind. Have them make Father's Day cards. Get the game Sorry, or some other games for kids that age. Whatever you do, don't let them control you. Put your foot down as soon as you walk in the door or they'll be living hell for you...you're not mom, they don't HAVE to listen to you...you know how that goes. Just be nice until they give you reason not to be, then give them understanding and YOU call the shots. Unruly kids just need a good spankin' every once in a while from their mother.

ok. take a deep breath. everything will be ok. im an experiecnced babysitter. and has had these problems very often. first bring stuff with you.
movies like the incredibles, nemo, madagascar, shrek. both can watch. then bring like arts and crafts for the girl. like beads but make sure shes old enough to know not to swallow them. markers and crayons for the guy.
if there really wound up. play games with them. such as tag outside (like tv tag where u name a show before they tag you, which means they cant get you). or hide and go seek inside. try to wound them up even more so they get tired out and wanna watch a movie. and if the parents say a bedtime. tell the kids that your gonna let them stay up. but only for like 30 minutes. any other questions?

No wonder we have lazy kids, most people are telling you to pop in a movie and let them veg out. I would suggest taking them outside and letting them run and play. You can play tag, hide-n-seek, ect. Have a plan of action when you go. Know what you want to do first. Always leave room for change. You have to also let the kids help make the decisions so that they will cooperate. Have craft items or board games. and card games just in case you can't play outside.

If the weather is nice, play some games outside. You can play freeze-tag, Simon says, etc. If you aren't able to go out, then try some drawing games. One idea is to have one of them draw a shape, and have the other one draw an animal, vehicle, etc. out of the shape the first one drew. Then the second one can draw a shape, and the game continues.

Get some games out. Teach them a card game, or a card trick (that age LOVES them) if you know any. Play I spy. Make some snacks, if it's the right time of day, out of celery, apples, peanut butter, raisins, carrots, etc. You can turn them into animals or anything they imagine.

If they get out of control lock them in their rooms for about an hour.If they are just a lil rowdy get them some drinks and popcorn and set them down with a movie!Or play a game with them. That usually works with my 2 2yr olds.

Duct tape and a mallet. Just kidding. Can you play outside? It sounds like they have some energy to burn off. Maybe hide and seek, tag, bikes, skates, hula hoops, ball. If you have to stay inside, you could try balloon volleyball. Tie a string across a space to be the net and blow up a couple of balloons for balls. Or some kind of art project if you want them to sit still, like get them to draw what they think they'll look like in 10 years. And whatever you do, don't let them have any sugar!

PS. Mine also like Disney charades, where they have to act out a Disney movie.

I have a 4-year old boy, 7-year old girl, and 9-year old girl and boy. The universal theme for outside play or movie is always good. Mine like to bake. We make cookies, bread, pies, cakes.... It is fun and has a payoff. We also make play-dough to use in making presents for others or to keep for ourselves. Also, this is a good age for stories. What we like to do is one will start off with a sentence and the other adds on...and the other adds on... etc. It's funny and fun.

Go outside and play racing games and let them get tired and maybe when they come back in they won't be as rowdy.
