I do the same thing, and I was just diagnosed with ADHD. You can try alot of different coping mechanisms, like reading aloud, or reading for a set number of minutes (3), but you should probably contact a doctor to determine if you need therapy or medication. You can try taking an ADHD self-test online, too, and do some reading to see if what ADHD is described as is something that sounds familiar to you.

perhaps you suffer from one or more disorders that make consentration difficult or an attention deficit disorder.
never hurts to check it out;i would suggest seeing a Dr.
good luck!!
a good diet and not skipping meals may also help;if you are fidgety try cutting back on caffeine.
also, you may want to check the side effects of any medicine you take.
reading is great and a necessity;keep looking for a solution.you will be glad in the end!!!

I do the same, then I look back and realize I scanned my eyes over half a page and have no idea what it was about. It might sound silly, but reading to yourself quietly (if you are alone!) makes you stay focused because you hear it and see it at the same time. Much harder to wander off.

start by reading something you enjoy, and read slowly, if it's a story, it's actually good to imagine and drift off. that's it's purpose. read just before bedtime. if its for school, read after a nap. :-)
