Sort of Christianity, but with some changes:
They believe that they are in "the truth", they don't celebrate birthdays because in the bible only bad things happened on birthdays, they don't celebrate Christmas because it's a pagan thing and Jesus was born around April? (I forget when exactly) and not December, they kind of do Easter, the "eating Jesus" thing with the bread and wine. They go door to door "preaching" (they normally like a cup of tea if they're allowed in, most seem to only have 1 sugar). They have 2 little brochure/leaflet things, called The Watchtower and Awake, they have a leaflet called How we can live forever in paradise(something similar to that, it has a lovely picture on it.)
They have a book of bible stories so that children can learn things without getting too bored, because the bible is too long and doesn't have pictures.
They goto the Kingdom Hall and sometimes have big conventions.
They can get baptised if they want.
They can also get disfellowshipped (kicked out) for doing things they shouldn't really do, for example having a baby out of wedlock and then all other JW's aren't allowed to talk to that person, whether they're family or not.
I've done all what I can remember, but I was about 13 last time I went to the Kingdom Hall, because Mum let us choose whether we wanted to go by then and I decided it was poopy and boring.

Jehovah's Witnesses are Christians that follow the Bible. They are not part of Christendom, which encompasses Catholicism, Protestantism, etc., they are not part of Judaism, nor of the Asian(?) religions such as Buddaism, Taoism, etc., nor are they of the Muslim or Islamic religions. They are not a cult, as some people believe. As for why they knock on people's doors, this is actually commanded by Jesus in the Bible to do so. To find out more about them, why not ask for more information when they knock on your door? If you want to find out about any religion, the best thing to do is ask someone who follows that particular religion. You'll get more accurate information that way, instead of other people's sometimes inaccurate ideas/opinions.

The JW's got their start in the mid-late 1800's. Firwst leader was Charles T Russel. Originally called themselves the Zio Watchtower and Tract Society. Changed names in the 1920's.
Came out of a time when many were expecting a "soon" return of Jesus Christ. They were very zealous in their teachings and went door to door (some still do) seeking converts.
They do NOT consider themsleves Christians. They insist that term was originally invented to mock the early believers (and it was it). They reject the divinity of Jesus, teaching that he was only the archangel Michael, limit the number of people who will be saved to 144,000 (and that number is already filled up). Everybody else just gets a chance to become a servant for the 144,000 in heaven if they are good enough. No hell - when you are dead, you are dead.
They are usually regarded as a cult, and not a part of the Christian faith, even though they use the Bible (their own edited translation - the New World version) as their authority.

they where just short of being classed as a cult!
they have a guy that deciphers the bible for them...
tells them wether god is sleeping...
oh the world is about to end... roughly every time there is a world crisis... i.e. cuban missle crisis... millenium... oil shortages 70's...
heaven is also full... so how do they expect to go to heaven...
i don't know i don't knock anyone for following a religion... but...
1... the world wouldn't be a better place if we all where dancing in the fields with daisy chains around our necks...
2... do they really think we could co-exist with some of natures more violent animals like tigers... yeh as a meal for the tiger.
3... i cannot understand someone following the advice of a religious elder... whom lives in a 5 bed mansion has real estate... while he extorts his flock (congregation) of cash to give him his life style... whilst the majority of his flock live in a lot more mediocre accomodation...
4... at least if you are going to follow a religion do it properly... witnesses are not supposed to live for luxuries... yet nearly every witness i know has a car.. nice t.v. where make up, go out drinking until they pass out...
5... if god has moulded man in his form... and given man a brain... then why would a person deny there own kids a blood transfussion, and allow there kid to die... or other member of family... this i really cannot understand!
i don't knock some of the charity work they do... but the majority of that is just a facade!
i hope i will have argued a little sense here... i do not mean to offend!
oh yes just read the answer 3 or 4 answers down from top... yes i know saying up yours to anyone who takes a disheartened view to witnesses, is a very christian thing to do isn't it... as i was saying... i do not think witnesses even know what a true witness is... as you will read!!! !!!!nuff said!

we as Jehovah Witnesses are Christian. we worship Jehovah God and his son Jesus Christ. we knock on doors because Jesus told us at Matthew 28 ver 19 and 20. we are doing the samething as Jesus did. of course Jesus did it on the mountains but we knock on doors or any place we see people. we are not a cult. we are a religion. to the man up yours. that is nasty. the watchtower and awake are very good magazines. the awake talks about the news. why don't you spend sometime reading it you may learn something interesting. God does not want us to die that is not the real reason why we don't take blood. why don't you ask a Jehovah Witness when u see one about the blood. stop telling lies about us. by the way, we don't and will not let our children die.

Jehovah's Witnesses are a Christian group (they believe they're a restoration of first century Christianity). They knock on people's doors to witness for G-d, trying to spread His message. They, unlike the majority of Christians, do not believe in the trinity. They also deny the divinity of Jesus, believing him to be the Archangel Michael, who appears in the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament), and they believe he was G-d's first creation. They don't follow traditions or celebrate holidays they believe to have origins in false religions (Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving Day, Father's Day, Mother's Day, etc.). They also don't celebrate birthdays or say G-d bless you when somebody sneezes. They also believe that Jesus was crucified on a stake or pose, rather than the traditional Christian cross/crucifix.

Jehovah's Witnesses are those strange people who knock on your door and hand out their blissfully ignorant magazines. Those magazines, by the way, make great bird cage liners. The only good thing I can think of to say about Jehovah's Witnesses is that they don't pay their preachers to preach. Other than that, they're wacko's!

They are a branch of Christianity. They knock on people's doors because they emphasize the "spread the word" aspect of Christianity. But they were formed long before the advent of radio and TV and the internet, so their method is kinda quaint as far as spreading the word is concerned. Nowadays, one can hardly escape the intrusions into public life of word spreading......

They hold the view that the world will end and you must be saved. They also think you should not celebrate birthdays, Christmas and Easter. As well as if you need a blood transfusion you can't have it because god meant you to die. I ask them into my house all the time. Anyone who knocks on your door with those views needs to be listened to. My own views on the matter are mine. Let's take are hats off to them. they have read the bible in a whole different way to most.
