Exercise every day, even if it's just a walk. Go on a high protein, low carbohydrate diet. Eat fish, eggs, chicken, occasional lean beef or pork, low fat cottage cheese. Stay away from regular cheese, no bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, peas, beans (except green beans). No more than one piece of fruit a day and no fruit juice (it's sugar water, my dr says). Cut down on carrots and tomatoes (included ketchup). Use mustard instead of mayonnaise in recipes. Eat lots of salads, green vegetables. Salads only have one tablespoon of dressing for the whole salad. No ice cream, or other desserts.

Funny I am 5'2" and my ideal weight is 115.
Why 98 is that much better? Will your life be complete if your weight is in the double digits?
It's not stop eating it is eating what is right, healthy stuff not crap when you do eat. You got the exercise part...but some ppl are just genetically disposed to be a certian weight. Learn to love the weight your at and eat right, exercise and you will learn that weight is a number you don't care about.

Here are the best tips I can give you, but remember that losing weight is not something you should do to please others, only to make yourself happy (or for health reasons, which does not appear to be your case.)

1) Drink cold water, as in water with ice in it. In addition to filling you up and being good for you, it will force your body to burn calories to heat you back up (and it has no calories to begin with.)

2) Eat a good breakfast. NEVER skip your first meal, since it is what you body uses for energy the most. While you should not go out and have a three egg omelet with cheese, ham, etc and a side of bacon and grits or potatoes every day, you should eat something with enough calories to give your body a good start. Grapefruit or a banana is NOT breakfast.

3) When you eat lunch or supper, start off with a serving of soup if at all possible. Choose something light (tomato soup is fine, as are other low calorie soups) and it will help fill you up and give you some nutrition as well.

4) Be sure to exercise, if possible - doing something you enjoy. You need to get your heart rate up for at least 20 minutes at a time for fitness reasons, but make sure not to over do it.

5) Avoid drinking things like soda (Coke, Sprite, Dr. Pepper, etc) as they have about 180 calories per can, and no real nutritional value at all. When in doubt, go for water.

6) Just in case you have a tendency to starve yourself (which I do NOT advise) you should take a good multi vitamin. People who diet tend to cut way too much out of their daily intake, and the body suffers for it. This is not a replacement for eating in any way, but it is like insurance that while trying to lose weight you do not more seriously damage yourself.

7) Find some low calorie snacks that you actually enjoy (maybe popcorn without butter or salt, an apple, or raw carrots.) Crunchy food, even if low in nutrition or calories, fools your body into thinking you are eating a lot (there is something about the chewing of harder material that does it - chewing gum and other soft items do not accomplish this.) Keep them handy for when you are hungry but have a while until your next meal or have eaten enough calories for the day.

8) Do not eat within 3 hours of going to sleep. Any calories you take in will tend to become fat since you body will not use them.

Remember, when you do lose weight, you lose both fat and muscle. It is important to eat a good balance of foods in order to stop your body from cannibalizing itself. Slightly lowering your caloric intake and upping your physical activity is the best route you can take. This is a life style change, and if you stop eating correctly and exercising, your weight will come back.

Good luck!

not eating isnt very smart because you can get health problems from that. you should try eating a salad once a day and drink a liter of cold water when you get up in the morning because you will burn calories heating up the water in your body. also eat more fish and vegitables and fruits and take vitamins they give you extra energy for the day. excersise 15 minutes after you eatso you burn fats and calories doing this can make you lose at least 3-5 pounds a week.

Why would you want to be any smaller, 115 lbs?? come on, honey thats tiny!! 98lbs is borderline anorexic and you'll look like a skeleton, i think you may have other issues regarding self image and esteem going on, definately not weight issues. im sure you are a beautiful girl and know that you dont have to be all bones, curves are beautiful and you should love you for you, not what you see on tv! you are not losing weight because you dont need to, your body needs the energy and weight to sustain itself, good luck with your self image!!

Hey Britt...not sure of your age -- but your weight for your height is already quite appropriate !!! If you DESIRE (not NEED!) to shed just a few pounds...even down to perhaps 110 or so -- OK, if you must to be happy! BUT I caution you to watch out -- you may already be exhibiting some signs of the psychological aspects (body image) of an eating disorder!! BE CAREFUL and BE SMART!!! Talk to your physician (or good friend, or parent, or SOMEBODY) while you are still a healthy sized young lady! GOOD LUCK!!!!

starving yourself screws up your metabolism. All you can do now is keep exercising and eat moderately.

eating: eat small amounts often...every 2 hours or so, that will jump-start your metabolism. High-protein, low-fat, no salt, good carbs only - NO processed sugar

exercising: lift weights...muscle burns fat...you will actually gain pounds, but you will lose inches.
