You poor woman!!! I was a nanny for 8 years and I have 4 of my own now. I used to keep kids at my house during the summer and then after school and I charged $150/week during the summer and $125/week when school was in. I had their baby here during the day and then 2 after school. But, it is really up to you in what you want to charge. Food, water, time and care really do come at a cost. It is nice to offer help if you can but not at your expense. The parents of the kids are getting all the benefits and you just have the expense. How fair is that?

You need a daycare license when you babysit more than 5 kids in the state of IN. You have to be certified 4 CPR if you do have a daycare license

UM YES...having a license TOTALLY matters.
I wouldn't take my kid to a place that wasn't licensed.
If you're licensed...the state is aware of you being an actual "child care" facility...and will come and inspect you and make sure you adhere to the laws required for the health and saftey of the children in your care.
PLUS, If I'm going through the trouble of paying someone a thousand dollars a month to watch my kids...the least they can do is go pay the fees and file the paperwork and be a legitamate child care facility.

"Yes" It matters. As someone already said there are food programs available to you and also it makes other families in the community available to you so you can get what you are worth. Some states have grants to help you get set up to be licensed. You might call DSHS in your area, or look for a childcare resource and re feral in your area. They are very helpful. In some states it is the law to be licensed if they are not relatives. I did it . It has been a wonderful source of income in my life. No one can work for nothing. And when it comes to our children we need to make sure they have the best possible care they can have.

First two year old twins are a LOT of responsibility, I hope you are CPR certified and have first aid training for your own protection as well as theirs. Are they toilet trained? Check around and see what local babysitters are charging for similar kids their ages? Why so many hours? One hundred - one hundred fifity dollars per child? Sounds like you are doing a live in job but @ your own home! Live ins get salary plus room and board. Good Luck!

Well first of all if they don't pay tell them to no longer take the kids.
i mean sitting is hard work especially toddlers. My day care charges 324 per week for toddlers.and getting a license is a necessary for state reasons

You've really got to sit them down and tell them you can't afford babysitting their kids anymore with what they're paying you. Do it in as polite a manner as can be mustered but let them know you really need to be paid more.

Depends on a lot of things. I pay $1000 a month but it's a great infant school and they are really focused on field trips, learning, etc.
