Actually PEG, like answer #1 said (and possibly others, i didn't bother to read down) that symbol and the use of Mary, and candles, and rosary and beads and blah blah blah are all Catholic relics. For them, the objects take on a deeper meaning physically, and the reverence to them is almost worship. It's my belief that many aren't aware that they are practicing idolitry. Christians that realize that the worship of God/Jesus/Holy Spirit is all that is asked of us, and even physical religious objects, while important and shouldn't be taken lightly, are just objects and are otherwise worldly. I'm not saying I would ever desicrate a Bible or burn a church, but that's not what worship of God is about. Then again, I have a much more "liberal" and sometimes cynical view than many Christians.

Because those of us who wear crucifixes are not WORSHIPPING the crucifixes.
Simply wearing a crucifix, or having an image of Jesus or Mary or one of the saints, is not an act of idolatry. Because nobody is worshipping any of these things.
I don't know of any Christians who accuse non-Christians of idolatry.
If any non-Christians are being accused of idolatry, perhaps it's because they are in effect worshipping things of this world -- money, sex, possessions, prestige or power, whatever -- when they should be worshipping God.
Placing number-one priority on those things is very much a form of idolatry. But simplyl wearing a crucifix is not, because the crucifix is by no means being worshipped.

I'm a Christian, and I don't wear a crucifix. However, some Christians wear crucifixes to remind them of Jesus did. They are not worshipping the actual crucifix, they are worshipping Jesus who died on the cross.
Idolatry occurs any time that we allow something to become more important to us than God. There are a lot of different kinds of idolatry. For example, my wardrobe could be an idol to me. or my car, my house, my dog, or my boyfriend.
Many people struggle with this sin, including Christians. The point is not that we condemn or judge each other for our sins. We should be helping each other to overcome them.
The only way to truely overcome sin is to receive forgiveness for our sins from Jesus. I know that I'm not a perfect person, and I'm eternally grateful to Jesus for forgiving me. If some Christians want to wear a crucifix to remind themselves of what Jesus did for them, that's fine by me as long as they are worshipping Jesus and not the crucifix.

Not all of us wear the cross. I wear a St.Francis medal. I don't worship my medal,my Rosary Beads, or the Blessed Mother. The medal is a reminder to me to treat all people like the prayer of St. Francis states. The Rosary,is to give a particular order to how I pray. The Virgin Mary is the only person other than God/Jesus,to ever be without sin.We as Catholics, ask Mary in our prayers to basically put a good word in for us with Jesus.

"Thou shall have no other gods besides Me... Do not make a sculpted image or any likeness of what is in the heavens above..."
This prohibits belief in or worship of any additional deities or fashioning them.
This is the second commandment
And Yes crucifix break that commandment
The point is that he rose from the dead
because every man will die
but not every will rise again
It is good thing that we are under Grace

Not all christians wear a crucifix, and as far as I know, the christians that do wear them, wear them as a symbol that represents their commitment to Jesus or God. They do not worship the object, nor do they focus on it.

I appreciate that, between the few most suitable those who appreciate a faith except their own. As a former Catholic/Christians, I nevertheless look as a lot as his teachings, yet i do not placed on a crucifix, yet I dont see the precedence in donning it. it would make for a sturdy communication subject matter if someone asks you about it.

Real Christians accuse nobody. There are a lot of people who think they're the real thing, but aren't.

Christians don't worhip the idol of the cross. It represents Jesus dying on the cross for saving our sins. Christians worship Jesus... not the object of the cross.
