It makes my hair grow faster. I'm a black male with an Afro. If you want it to work you have to get cornrows. Which are braids close to the scalp. The hair is being constantly pulled so it grows to release the tension. Some people say it doesn't work. But I tried an experiment. I had my hair out for a month and it hardly grew. Then I got it braided all the time for a month and it grew like 2 inches. Trust me. It works. You just have to ask yourself can U stand to look like Allen Iverson while your hair grows.

Yes and no. If you wear braids, you are allowing your hair to relax because you are not subjecting it to the constant combing/brushing,pulling/styling, heat and chemicals, and your hair may grow a little. Conversely, braids can sometimes pull the hair out, and break it off. It depends on the strength of your hair, as well as the oils you use, in combination with your diet/vitamin intake. Also, it is important that you keep your hair clean and well moisturized, so it will be healthy.
My hair was breaking off terribly, so I had it braided, and I kept them in for about 2 months. My hair grew from my jawline to my shoulders.

It's not so much of braiding your hair that does the growing,it's allowing time for your hair to grow. When your hair is braided you don't have to worry much about it.Especially if it is french braided all you have to do it put hair oil on it to keep it healthy and it will grow on it's own.

My hair is very long. I braid mine every night before bed. I get it damp and braid it. When I take it down it looks wavy.
But I personally think it helps. I've always heard it makes your hair grow.

no, though if you braid it while it's wet it will stretch and as it dries it may break because there is too much tension...if you DO braid your hair make sure it's completely dry. (licensed cosmetologist)

IF YOU LEAVE IT BRAIDED FOR A WEEK AND THEN RE DO IT. WHAT BREAKS YOUR HAIR OUT IS THE BRUSHING AND COMBING. IT WILLHELP IN GROWING YOUR HAIR.
