First of all, bringing Democracy & freeing the oppressed is not policing the world, it's the American way & the olny moral thing to do. De Oppresso Libre
Second, yes we should. Yes it could become a wider war against the extremist branch of Islam, but that's what we're already fighting & can't bring them to decisive battle. Yes you are talking about a big hairy problem, especially given the delicate nature of Iraq, but the right thing to do is bring this evil philosophy to battle where we can destroy it.
Is that what we will do? No. We'll use mostly airstrikes against nuclear facilities, gut their military, & attempt to take out the Guardian Council & President. There will also be some major special operations actions against certain facilities that we cannot destroy from the air w/o use of nuclear weapons (which we won't be using). This will delay development for 2-5 years. We will follow this with an external campaign to elect reformers & overthrow the theocratic rule. That will be less successful. We will be attacked by terrorists for taking this action, and it will have been worth teh price to keep Muslim extremist from having a nuclear weapon, or scientest with the knowledge of how to make one suddenly being rented out to al Qaeda, or perhaps every other Islamic Country that dislikes America or Israel.

The problem with Iran is not black and white their are grey areas to consider. If we immediately attack against Iran because they do not respect sanctions we could open a can of worms of world war III and Iran has a lot of clot that can manipulate the middle east to there way of thinking and logic and get support for their cause. We need to know more what they want and what was in the letter he sent to the president. Is he asking for holy war to end all wars or is he wanting respect internationally or is he wanting attnetion and respect. Without clear idea of intention he need to be extremely careful since in the past Iotolla from Iran has been known to go to war and has no fear of doing so they have 800,000 soldiers and nuke bomb almost finished. Could the US really fight and fund two wars at the same time yes its possible but we would be spread very thin. We do not have the man power to do both but if we did the draft we could do it in weeks we need all general and all high ranking military on the same page and maybe time to bring out weapons that are the in the research stages and hurry up the technology. All new protection need to be given to everyone fighting. We would need to use our bombs if necessary if they attack us or Israel.
It is a very complex thing in the end to decide on only president knows what is best.

The answer is NO! We are not the world's police and we can't waste all our resources running around attacking other countries that don't agree with us. It's arrogant, immoral and stupid (about the same as the people in charge these days.)
Do you want to reactivate the draft - cause that's what we'll have to do to get the soldier power!
Do you want to leave your grandchildren so much debt they will never be able to dig out of it?
Do you want to devastate what's left of the economy of this country?
Do you want to leave our own citizens unprotected if we have another natural disaster like Hurricane Katrina?
I used to think we wouldn't ever do that because it's so stupid, wrong and dangerous, but now it seems the Republicans are running out of distractions. No gay marriage amendment, and probably no flag burning amendment. Cheney won't go to jail for treasonous leaking of top secret info...... No more distractions to keep us from understanding just how corrupt these politicians are.
What is the point in attacking Iran? Lots of other countries have nukes not sanctioned by the NPT: India, Pakistan, Israel and North Korea. Japan could throw one together in a week.
The answer is NO!!!! We should try to get along with other countries in the world and never attack any country unless we are attacked first, or are part of a real consensus of powerful countries. Other than that we will just continue to squander what is left of our credibility and good will.

No, we would probably lose. China is aligned with Iran and would probably get involved. Think about it, we are having major problems with fifth rate militaries like those in Afghanistan and Iraq. Iran has a well-equipped army full of true believers. It would solidify the Arab world against the US and Israel should we invade.

No. Right now we don't even have enough troops for another bullshit war. And we can not tap into the National Guard or the Reserves either. They are not even a threat right now. What If they are telling the truth about there program. It could be just for energy and research. We are so scared that our government always jumps the gun. Look at Iraq. Its ben 3 years now and we are not closer to leaving the country.

I am going to say No, it will just cause more problems. However, I am just saying No right now, but if we ABSOLUTELY need to, then I will reconsider my opinion.
... There are just so many nations and dictators/communists nowadays that keep on playing with fire and since every country, except the U.S., keeps on ignoring them, it might just get worse, not better, if we just let them be...
... Also, Zelda and other liberals/Democrats step down from your soap boxes...

If we don't take a stand today look for a nuclear attack on Washington D.C., NYC, L.A., and Chicago in 5-10 years.
