The " Anti- Grav-pad"
Its function is to allow a person to levitate objects of great weight ,without the use of gas powered idea's.
Its appearance, though smaller version could be available later, is set for large object moving, where beauty doesn't count, what it does wins out but, a flat surface octagon shape would be the best shape so the "pads" can be place in a circular pattern or rectangle. .
Requirements 1. Cold Fission reactor to supply power for the "inverted frequency modulated electro- magnetic pulse" transmiters. Now the big one "Whats it going to cost? Darn if I know-No really. I haven't begun to imagine the cost of a "Cold Fission" reactor and all the things that it needs to run safely , that I would leave to other people.
The purpose " Mega-Heavy lifts", also once the "lift" is done, with a push of your hand will send it in the direction of your choice. And once in the air, more power can be sent to the "pads" to give it the ability to gain to heights limited only by power

If I could invent one item it would be a pocket sized, handheld device that would eliminate all the electronics in my business life. It would be capable of GPS functions, handle my PC functions, hold my addresses and phone numbers, make wireless calls by voice activation, keep my appointments and have a voice command to list them aloud, also it would replace my pager. It would have a long lasting battery which would be easily replaced. Finally, for safety, it would automatically warn me of traffic conditions and road conditions ahead. Although this would initially cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to research and develop, I would predict that such a device would eventually retail for less than $500.00, including the software rights. This type of innovation would save thousands for each employer in software, hardware and, since it would have a hard body, it would be impervious to the inevitable fall from the pocket.

I'd invent a laptop PC with a hard drive card similar to the cards used for data storage, rather than the magnetic storage disks. The card would use no moving parts which are subject to mechanical failure. Otherwise, the PC would look no different from any other. The only difference is the storage medium for the hard drive. Price would be competitive with existing laptops.

two things

1) an anti-matter engine (for obvious reasons).

2) a time-traveling machine, that way I could travel back in time and "invent" all the really profitable technologies that everyone else has thought about before me or at least put stock in the companies that developed these technologies. It is much easier to profit off of other people's ideas than to actually apply yourself and come up with an original idea, research it, generate funding, develop a prototype, etc.

I'd like to see a small tri-corder type device. A portable lab to assist with crime scene type analysis. Most of the functions are well within the realm of current technology, spectral analysis could be used for identifying compounds, a little black-light type device / infrared, possibly low-light viewer. It could be useful for crime-scene studies where transporting samples could be time-consuming and increase the risk of contaminating samples.

Yes, I know that it isn't necessary to do a tri-corder... but it would be cool to have one :-)

I guess for me I would have to say a portable hand-held tv with channel and volume buttons on the side with a good size LCD screen that had a mini satellite receiver. If you already had satellite TV maybe your provider would give you a discount or even make the extra receiver free. you would never miss a game and you could shut your kids up in the back seat

I guess any of the technology of Star Trek. An item replicator, a phaser that could stun, a tricorder. Let's face it any of those items would be top sellers.

an item which enables a motorist to signal that she or he is NOT about to make and turn in order to drive in a different direction
It would be a light of a different color, viewable to other motorists, bicyclist and pedestrians.
It's purpose would be to give people more opportunites to get more information to use in order to make better decisions concerning when to cross a street and when NOT to cross a street.

robotic garden gnome - my gnome would scan visitors approaching the house and alert people inside that of unwanted guests. deluxe gnomes would be fitted with sound options to scare the crap out of cats and dogs who might wish to leave a pile on your fresh cut lawn. low voltage just in case the gnome fell into your pond - dont want fried fish floating in your pond , do we?
