It's not so much that he got married, because marriage is ok. it's the fact that he didn't die on the cross and ran off with Mary Magdeline that people have an issue.

Do people not realize that "Jesus" was just a man like any other man. Historical facts. Let me guess, the bible? The word of "God"? What did they hold a press conference so that they could get all the facts from "Jesus" and print them in one "historically accurate book"? I don't think so. I'm sorry but the bible is nothing more than a person or group of peoples perspective on a point in time.
Jesus was a human being! He had needs and desires just like every one else. Religion doesn't want to admit that because what, it will make him seem less "God like"?
I think you people need to re-read the book. Yes "The Da Vinci Code" is a work of fiction. But I believe that a lot of the historical premises is based in truth. To what extent I don't know. The same with the bible. There may be a lot of truth there, but just like so much other written history, facts get lost or changed to suit the intentions of the author.
Call it what you will, but I like to believe that maybe, just maybe the bloodline of Christ still exist out there today. What would be so wrong with that?

We cannot prove whether Jesus was married or not. If at all married, there is no harm in it because He lived in this world as a human being. That doesn't question His sanctity.

But, the cunning idea of Dan Brown is something else. By tarnishing people's faith, he made sure his success (gaining money) and fame. All similar writers like Kazantzakis, Salman Rushdi had the very same aim while writing their controversial books. More important is when one community is tarnished the other communities rejoice and that creates "best sellers"

According to the Sermon on the Mount, and at least one of Paul's epistles, Jesus prefers celibacy, or even that men become eunuchs. The idea that Jesus would have married would put that idea into question and cause doubt that the Bible is literally true. It's part of the Christian Domino Theory: If one part of the Bible is proven false, other parts may prove false, until people stop believing the Bible altogether, including the parts about Jesus being the savior.

Of course Jesus married...why wouldn't he have? Rabbi's aren't celibate, that is an abomination of the Christian Roman church. I did not get that from the Da Vinci code, I have understood it to be true since I can remember. Oh and I wish there weren't so many who can't accept the fact that the Da Vinci Code is FICTION and he can say whatever the heck he wants!

For Jesus to be the Savior, His actions must be consistent with Biblical teachings. In the Bible marriage is looked at in two aspects: 1) it is a representation of Christ and the church -- Christians are told to (husbands) 'love your wives as Christ loved the church' so why would Christ marry? It is a hypothetical syllogism with a missing premises (aka: a fallacy) 2) marriage means that a man leaves his father and mother and becomes one with his wife -- for Christ to be consistent with the Bible, this means He would separate Himself from God the Father, completely disassembling the trinity, which is the basic foundation for all Christian thought.

There's plenty of evidence to show that Jesus was never a husband, but I agree... it wouldn't change anything if He was. The Bible tells us that He was "fully man", and in so I wouldn't think any less of Him if He was married... in fact the world could probably benefit from His example in marriage. A lot of people in the Christian faith can't deal with something that questions their faith, or at least their interpretation of it (hence all the denominations). I've known people who believed that Jesus didn't even have genitals (but again, like I said, He was "fully man")... which is something most people don't think about but it doesn't change anything about His message; Love God, love others, and the rest is details. Blessings,

Brian

I believe at some point, the Savior was/will be married. I believe it is essential for man to be married in the temple in order to reach the highest degree of glory, the celestial kingdom. Christ was the perfect example and has to some time enter into the new and everlasting covenant of marriage.

I don't understand what all of the fuss is about this NOVEL. Are there a lot of people out there that believe in the Wizard Of Oz as truth? At least this work of fiction has the saviors name on millions of tongues.
