If you don't believe in God, the same thing happens to you as those who do believe. You will be buried or cremated until the time when you are resurrected.

Most christians are not aware that there are two resurrections; one for the righteous and the other for the "wicked", or non-believers. Those who are part of the second resurrection will be deceived again by Satan and will attempt to make war with the New Jerusalem. This attempt will be cut short when they begin burning. They will not burn forever, but will burn until they become ashes.

There is another common misconception; we do not have souls that go to Heaven or to hell when we die. Think of Lazarus when Jesus resurrected him, it would have been cruel to bring him back to this earth after spending a few days in Heaven. Besides, the Bible teaches that death is a sleep, and that the dead remain in their graves until the resurrection. A brief example that we all experience is when we wake up in the morning; we have no clue what have been happening through the night (unless it disturbed us), and the next thing we know is the alarm that wakes us up.

This is a many sided question. If there is a God, even if you don't believe in him he may still exist, then most current religions say you will burn for eternity in hell, even if you led a more moral and pure life than a follower.

If there is no God, whether or not you believe in one, then you probably cease to exist the second you are brain dead, unless there is some great 'life force retirement home' out there.

Some follow a belief that you will come back in another life or body and this cycle will continue as long as there are bodies available.

Well, major organs fail and your body begins the decomposition process. You'll be taken to a medical examiners office or a morgue, depending on if there's suspicion that you were murdered or if you died of natural causes. Natural; you'll be embalmed and buried or cremated, your choice. Murder; an autopsy will be performed i.e. you will be bled out, each organ will be removed, weighed and dissected, even biopsied for pathology. Toxicology tests will be done; The contents of the stomach will be removed to help determine time of death; embalming will take place; then you will be buried or cremated, your choice. If you are buried, you will decompose in a box, six feet under the earth. If you're cremated, your body will be put in a casket and then into a cremation chamber where your body will be subject to intense heat for approx. two to three hours. Next, your ashes will be swept into a container chosen by you or your family. At this point, your ashes may go over an ocean, into the mountains, buried in the earth or sit on someones mantle. In conclusion, regardless of what you choose or what is chosen for you, you won't feel a thing ;)

I believe your spirt either goes to paradise or prison, depending on this life. If you had the chance to accept the Savior's gospel here and didn't, you cannot attain the highest degree of glory. We believe after the first resurrection, millenium, second resurrection, and judgement, all spirits will go to one of these kingdoms: Celestial (the highest, where God dwells), Telestial, Terrestial, or outer darkness (few will be there.) The Terrestial Kingdom is compared to the earth now think of how wonderful the Celestial Kingdom will be! If you want to know more of what Mormon's believe on this subject read Doctrine and Covenants section 76 or do a search on lds.org on each kingdom. It says a lot about the three kingdoms and what sort of people will be there.

Personally I don't believe in God, and I believe that your body decomposes. You don't have a soul, because your conscience is the living part of your "soul" and that dies when you die. I believe that you are doing the environment a favour, because human bodies are natural, so as such, you are providing natural nutrition and other stuff for the ground to help the earth's plants to grow. As such, you become fertiliser. Maybe not hte most pleasant thought, but a lot more realistic than this whole God business, given that nobody has ever proven that God exists. (but please don't be offended - I admire anyone who has enough faith to believe in God or whatever religion they believe in, it's just that I don't, and the proof element of it is a major factor in that)

Your brain stops functioning and you lose conscious self awareness (thinking).

Your body continues to "live" in that it begins to decompose and it becomes part of the earth. Eventually, it will become part of other life forms, but there will be no conscious awareness of this existence.

There are theories that molecules do retain a primitive form of memory. And, that causes people to recall events from "past lives" that are contained within those molecules. That is not a theory in the scientific sense, more of an opinion than a theory.

The universe is in a continual state of recycling, or "evolution," if you prefer.

The same process occurs for everything, rocks, plants, animals, etc. regardless what they believe.

I, believing in the Goddess and the God of my religion, will go to a lovely place called the Summerlands, where I will rest and relax after this trying time on earth. Then, when it's my time, the Goddess and the God will call my soul back down to earth to be reborn. And that about sums up what will happen to me.

I am quite comfortable with my mortality ... the lights go out, game over.

I terms of an afterlife I can only see that in terms of:

1. In the memory of friends and family;
2. the legacy of my family; and
3. the first law of thermodynamics - the energy I once had in my body moves on in a chemical/physical sense but not spiritual.

I do not feel the need to aim towards a theological goal but I am perfectly happy if that's how folks want to prepare.

Peace out

All sins are forgivable, besides blasphemy which is 10x worse than the blasphemy that we think of.All you have to do is believe that Jesus is Gods son and your saviour and God is the most important thing in your life, you have a ticket to a place where the best houses on earth look like shacks in comparison to your house in heaven.

The same thing that happens to those that believe in God.

You are in this world for about 70 to 80 years, if you are lucky. Once you die that is it, you are gone forever.

So enjoy life to the utmost. It will not be with you for long.
