When I'm waIking with a girl, I don't mind opening the door when the door is the pull in kind. But when I have to push in the door and stand awkwardly to the side and stretch my arm out holding the door open, that I won't do. Am I rude?

There's nothing more annoying than having to duck under some well-meaning guy's sweaty armpit, then smile and say thanks. You keep up what you are doing, that's the way, pull the door open. That awkward armstretch is awkward for everyone involved.

Every man should open a door for a lady. Not a car door but lets say we are walking into a resturant, store, or office. Any man, knowing the girl or not should open the door. I live in the South and rarely do you have a man not open the door. I am in my twenties and expect it. My nephew who is 12 even knows that! It is awkward to get the dirty look if you don't get the door!!

Well, then the door will go and smack her in the face! I personally think it's rude... it's not really THAT big of a deal, but it's always nice when men hold open the door for a lady. I always hold open doors for guys too. I think it's common etiquette, really. Hold the door for anyone. It's nice and if people aren't paying attention, they won't get hurt.

Try this, open the door for every woman you can on one day. Then the next day, see how many of them hold the door for you. If it doesnt add up, screw it! let the broads open the door for themselves. I find that black women will hold a door open as well as latin women. But Filipino's or Asians for that matter and , will smooth see you and let the door close. White women are half and half, it depends on their status and sexual orientation. SO No not rude women want to be equal make them equal

I've always struggled with that, as well. If you open the door, step through and hold it from the other side, it doesn't seem so awkward. When you've got two of them in a row, it's even stranger.

No, that´s not rude, the effort is very sweet. What you can do if it´s a push-in door is let the girl push on it first, and lift your arm over her to hold it open as she walks through. Exra points if you put your fingertips on the small of her back to usher her in as she walks through. Very nice.

No, you're not being rude. Chivalry is a lost art form, unfortunately, so as long as you open the door most of the time, you're doing fine. Any girl should be well pleased.

Wait and see the reaction of the girl, if she, for a second stand there maybe she is expecting for you to do it, if you don't she might think you are, but the other way she push the door with no hesitation, she don't care, remember not everybody think the same way

Well, it's not that the girl would mind. However, if someone else opens a door for her afterwards, she might pay more attention!
Just make sure you pay for dinner and a movie.

Well, if you want to follow the rules of ettiquite, you will open the door for the lady. In todays relaxed society though I don't believe many females want you to open the door for them, it's considered sexist.
