Clip the hair around it, clean the area, and dry it well. Then put a little Gold Bond powder on it twice a day and it will go away. Treat for fleas, since this can be a cause of the hot spot.

It all depends on how often your dog get hot spots it may be allergic to high protein food. So in other words get lower protein food and do not feed you dog any bones. Also clean the area but do not over dry because it will just get worse.

I had a pekingese with the same problem! A trip to the vet will rule out an infection. They can recommend an over the counter medication too. Bathe only with medicated shampoo and be careful not to bathe too frequently, that will only make the problem worse.

They need to be clipped and cleaned professionally. Bring your dog to the vet before they become infected - spend a little now save alot later.

there is an ointment called bag balm, we used it on our collie who used to get them, vet's advice, it comes in a square green can and can get just about anywhere, smells bad so they don't lick it off, and it was made for farmers to put on cow's utters to keep from chaffing....good stuff works well....good luck....also shave area first...
