I'll be moving just outside of San Francisco, CA and I want to get something that will be impressive (I know it sounds shallow). What are your picks for best car in the price range? Please give details why your pick is the best!

do you realize you could feed a small town in africa for 5 years for that much?

take a step back from this situation. no matter how much money you have that is an insane amount to spend on an automobile. if you want to be impressive work on yourself!

im sorry man but thats just ridiculous. to some people, a $70,000 car is actually the opposite of impressive. Its repulsive.

So think about the kind of people youre trying to impress.

New or used? For the money I would be looking at A BMW 635csi or a used M5, because of the new engine and body style the prices have dropped slightly. Unfortunately 70k isn't much in this car market anymore. You need to be a little more specific. Coupe or Sedan. Luxury or Sport help too. Have fun I just did the car shopping thing to, my head still hurts.

If your really serious about researching a car in that price range, you should look into "Top Gear" a british TV show where they drive high end vehicles and give brutally honest opinions. It is one of the most downloaded shows on the internet. Aside from that, BMW really is the best engineered vehicle balancing performance and luxury. Look at M3 or similar.

Of course, I would say to get the new GTO. You should get it cause it's new, HOT, it's still a classic muscle car. I would be very impressed if I saw someone driving one. I have yet to so thats also a good thing. You should get it in the metallic blue with black leather, 6-speed manual, bucket seats, 400 hp. What more can I say? OR agree with Matt (66 mustang)!!!! drool

soon, the 07 Toyota Supra will be out... its well worth waiting for it will be in that pricerange and will be a supercar by all means!
If you don't like waiting, you should buy an mk4 supra ('92-'99) and make it look good. Its rare, so it will bring attention... but DONT RICE IT! "pretuned by eh..Japanese Engineers"
Its got a 3 liter twin turbo engine with 330hp... Its a good choice;-)
It will be much better with an original rare car, than with some stupid Ferrari 360 Spider or the cars hollywood use.

And please! no bmw's range rovers or mercedes benz'.... please! It doesnt snatd out from the crowd.

You're going to Cali (cars aren't really that impressive) for $70,000. Get what you like and be happy. BMW, Mercedes, Lexus -- just do you.

with that budget, you can get almost any car you want, all you have to do is tell the car salesman you have a big wallet like that and you will almost be given a car, since rich folks are handed a lot of free stuff just because they have the big wallet.

good luck

Um I'd reccomend a car my family owns (we own three) a mercedes, porsche, or my brand new baby RANGE ROVER. But for seventy grand I'd say get a mercedes. I have a small sporty one but for you I'd reccomend a sedan.
