I came to US from Europe 5 years ago on a work visa. I've been paying taxes from the moment I started working and it really hurts me to see all the hate from you, Americans.
You think all illegals have come from South America and that's far cry from the facts:25% of all illegals are fluent English speaking immigrants from Europe. WHy do you hate us? We pay all taxes and none of us lives off welfare. We don't want to be illegal and we wouldn't be if the laws had not changed so much thru the years...

My question is for you is: should I marry a US citizen for papers or should I stay with the love of my life and wait for amnesty?
I'm sure your ancestors never had to make such a dramatic choice...

Stay with the love of your life. I don't know about you, but I'd rather live somewhere else with the right person than in America with the wrong one. This is a great country, as I hope you've experienced in your time here, and I hope you're able to make things work so you can get the best of both worlds.

I don't like illegal immigrants no matter where they come from, 800 thousand a year come here illegally every year, and that's not counting Mexico and south America. ( My ancestors) it was a different time no laws applied then. We are a sovereign nation we have a right to say who stays and who goes. People like you come every year on visa's and then never leave, if you want to be an American then do it right, stop breaking the law, I have nothing against immigrants that come legally. Its the (illegal )ones that make me mad, most take advantage of the good hearted American people by using our welfare system, going to hospitals with injuries and walking out and paying nothing, a lot of our hospitals are closing because of illegal aliens, especially the people coming from the south of us, and you say the laws have changed over the years, well we have a saying here( ignorants of the law is no excuse.) I don't think you should marry someone to become a citizen, they really investigate you and they ask very personal questions, marry the one you love, and get legal, and stop disrespect the United States, by breaking her laws, we are a nation of laws that must be upheld. Their is not going to be any amnesty, we a sick of giving people a free pass.

i am an immigrant--a legal immigrant-- from brazil and i've been here for 6 years and i speak fluent english and better than most of my American born friends. I have straight a's and in a good college i work my butt off to pay all my bills and i'm not going to college to become a landscaper a house keeper or a construction worker and neither are you so we're not taking the jobs you'd like to havee..

but back to your question... you should stick with love because after hope has let you down only love will stick with you... and if you marry and get your papers you have to stay married to that person for two more years so i advise you to stick to the loveo f your life.

We don't hate European immigrants! We have a bias against Mexican illegals because all Americans (or most) think 99.9% illegal immigrants are from Mexico and know 2 English words (if that).
I know nothing about love, but I say wait. It's just wrong what your 1st choice is.
I agree with your last statement. They had to worry about surviving the journey across the Atlantic, not about a majority of Americans yelling "go back to your country!"
And you Jack person, go away! You may be right, but...

Well first of all I'm an american that is much smarter than how you percieve americans to be. I agree the majority of americans are idiots rarely ever leaving their confines to see the rest of the world. Why are you here anyways if it's causing you so many problems? I really don't know your whole situation but I married an egyptian guy and we are really in love and he's still waiting for his greencard. If you really want to make your life here, you have to take some action, try to find a guy who will agree to marry you for legal purposes and maybe you can arrange some type of agreement with him. You should stay with your love, if he really loves you then you can make it work. Actually most americans don't think foreigners are from south america, but from central america, americans are generally uneducated with geography (I'm not saying all americans). Good luck!

What's wrong with illegal immigrants who come from South America? Don't you think they come here to find a better life, just like our ancestors?

Stay with the love of your life, don't waste yourself. If you don't succeed and don't become an American, well, I say it would be best for you.

Besides maybe you should try to apply for the lottery things. It sounds like they don't work but I know several people who won and got their green cards that way.

You could have made the choice to do it legally. My ancestors did.

If you speak English and don't use our services like schools, you probably aren't causing the amount of damage the more common, unskilled worker causes. We have a limit on poor immigrants because we subsidize services for people here. Even if poor people pay all taxes, they are not paying for themselves, others are subsidizing them. That is why countries that subsidize services like education and health care limit poor immigrants. As a class, illegal immigrants cost us immense amounts of money, cause disproportionate crime, and take education and health funds needed for our own people. For those reasons, as a class, we are against them.

It is simply not true that 'none of ' illegal immigrants live off of welfare. If you don't, good.

Regardless of whether you cause quite as much damage as others, however, you should follow the law.

Why should we say 'Welcome' when you violated those laws? Why should we think that is OK?

Well, you are illegal, you broke the law, what else we need to say. Come legally and live here all you want. Why relatives of legal immigrants need to wait for 3-10-15 years to come here? And you can cheat and then cry for pity? Hell, no.

I am just wondering, if you are illegal, how the hell do you pay taxes? You need SSN or Tax ID to pay taxes. Illegals can not have that.

I don't hate you :( that hurts. You are stereotyping americans the same way you think they are stereotyping you. Not cool, man...not cool. Anywho, back to your question. If you can find someone to marry you, then do it. Make sure they understand that it is only on paper. Nobody says that because you are legally married to a person that you have to live in the same house, sleep in the same bed and everything. Stay married until you can go through whatever channels neccessary to be granted citizenship (if thats what you want to do). You just have to find the right person to marry, who won't mind that it is only for legal purposes. Good luck...and stop saying we hate you...it's kind of annoying :)

You're obviously in the wrong city and or state of US. Not all of us hate Europeans. I don't. I like Europeans, Mexicans, Russians and French. Do you love an American? Marry the person and become a legal citizen. Other wise, stay with the person you do love. You mi ght be right about my ancestors, but the laws were diferent in those days.
