What ages are we talking about here? Generally speaking, it's good if you are able to be friends with someone you used to date. If its really over, there shouldn't be any confusion and there shouldn't be any confusing statements being made to one another. What is the point of an ex telling you that he still loves you? Maybe he does want to get back together, maybe he's testing the waters to see if you would want that too; maybe he's boosting his ego seeing that you're still into him. In any case, when it comes to dating and relationships, people do well when they are honest and upfront with one another and when they don't try to speculate about what's going on in someone else's mind.

Girl, he is messing with your head! Get as far away from him as you can. He is sending you mixed signals in order for him to not feel like such a prick when he does things that hurt you. (I am assuming this because otherwise he wouldn't be an XBF.) So one minute he's telling you he loves you, the next he's doing something stupid. Anyone who truly loves you wouldn't act this way. And you are wasting precious time on him, when you could be meeting someone better! So, tell him to F off and get yourself a better guy. He's out there - I promise!

This is too hard to answer, unknowing of the circumstances
but my suggestions is that you consider how well you enjoy his company and reconsider the breakup
if you want things to come back together, ask him if thats what he wants
work from there
believe me, speaking on the guys behalf, we get confused sometimes too!

why even worry about that, you both broke up, you're wasting time wondering about the feelings you have for him. He says that because it's something he always used to say to you when you were a couple. stop taking it so geniunely and look for the next guy

yes, it means that he may regret the breakup that you two encountered. tell him your feelings because he may be afraid of rejection(only if you broke up with him). if he broke up with you, wait for him to tell you but keep an open mind in the meanwhile.

He probably means that he loves you as friends. There are different types of love.

Tell him how you feel, but if his character has not evolved since the break-up just stay friends with the guy.

Well ya.. you should be with him if you still care for each other. I always have said that if you got something good you should do whatever you can to keep it.
