I heard people say it is hard being the spouse of someone who works in law enforcement, is it all that bad? Does anyone have anything happy or good to say about being the spuose of a cop?

Cops are about 3x's as likely to be involved in domestic abuse than the average profession. It is usually due to job stresses, rotating shifts, heavy badge syndrom, etc.

In society, there is a 5/95 rule. That means that rule, that infers that 95% of all crime is committed by the same 5% of the population. The population of cops is no different. 5% of the cops will have 95% of the complaints. 5% of the cops will be involved in 95% of the domestic violence claims.

The best marriages are when a cop marries after he or she is in law enforcment for a while. The reason is simple, people always change and the job changes them to a greater degree than most other professions.

my sister-in-law is married to a cop and he is wonderful to her. It just depends on the person you marie. except for a few cased ( special forces, rangers, infantry)(military jobs) jobs don't make someone abuse there spouse.
I'm a military wife so I'm not knocking the military some jobs just put men and women in places mentally they shouldn't be put but as far as a cop goes there not gonna abuse you because of there job, there gonna abuse you no matter what there job is if that is the type of person they are.

My father was a police officer for 24 years. Never once did he lay a hand on my mother nor did he verbally abuse her. Good police officers know that when they take the uniform off that they are not on patrol. My dad was intelligent, funny and an excellent police officer. Every one that was arrested by him may have been angry they got arrested but they also noted that he was fair. My dad left my mother do the discipline in the house. Not because he was lazy, but because he knew my mother was better at it than him. he always back her up though. If you are going to marry a police officer, make sure you are who you are and stand your ground. No different than any other marriage.

both my aunt and uncle are cops and they are the nicest people in the world. all the cops i know (and i know alot) have wonderful marriages. people aren't abusive because of their jobs, they are abusive because that's who they are. the hard part about being married to someone in law enforcement is the hours. they usually work 12 hour shifts. but the abuse it because of them, not their job.

Yes, in fact its even worse than you've probably heard. Many wrongly think being a copper is a dangerous occupation however, the most deadly situation to be in is being the spouse or family member of one of these traitorous alien boot licking mutants.

Anyone offering positive feedback about being a coppers spouse is most likely being forced to do so at gunpoint.

My wife has been married to me for almost thirty years. You could ask her, or the kids or the grandkids, but I think that all of them would say that it's hasn't been that difficult! I think they would say it's been fun! I mean, what fun it is for a grandson to see his granddad pull out of the driveway with lights and sirens going! She and the kids have been great partners with me through lots of stressful times. Sure, it's a stressful job (much less stressful than raising kids), but mutual love, support and prayer will see a couple through any difficulty.

Cops are people, like all other occupations, there are bad ones and good ones. If they are bad it isn't because they are cops. If they are good it isn't because they are cops.
