"...Professor Bob Carter of the Marine Geophysical Laboratory at James Cook University, in Australia gives what, for many Canadians, is a surprising assessment: "Gore's circumstantial arguments are so weak that they are pathetic. It is simply incredible that they, and his film, are commanding public attention."
But surely Carter is merely part of what most people regard as a tiny cadre of "climate change skeptics" who disagree with the "vast majority of scientists" Gore cites?
No; Carter is one of hundreds of highly qualified non-governmental, non-industry, non-lobby group climate experts who contest the hypothesis that human emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) are causing significant global climate change. "Climate experts" is the operative term here. Why? Because what Gore's "majority of scientists" think is immaterial when only a very small fraction of them actually work in the climate field..."

well, according to some people, there is nothing that we can do about global warming. Think about it...there was an ice age, then the planet warmed up. There are periods of warming, which triggers another ice age, which eventually warms and then it gets too hot and another ice age happens and so on. So, global warming is totally natural in the "life cycle" of the earth. Sure, it sucks that there is gonna be another ice age in a couple of thousand years, but we can't help it. Hey, maybe humanity will destroy the earth before we can have an ice age.

Global warming is in theory reversable, but it will mean global co operation between all countries ,and taking into account human nature and the world politics ,it is unlikely that this will happen,
At least not untill we are all in the middle of planetary disastres and it becomes a battle for the survival of humanity every where.
However
Almost all governments in the first world and many others who deal with them, are already working on this for a long time ,
the world bank pays large subsidies to reforestation with super carbon absorbing trees like Pawlonia
In Mexico many farmers are being persuaded Agro forestall farming which includes trees ,like shade grown coffee
and many countries like Germany and the USA ,for example have made heavy commitments to reduce carbon emissions
Countries like Australia ,Denmark,USA and South Africa to name but a few are spending a lot on alternative energies ,
but all of this is still far to slow
greed to further exploit the petrolium business prevents fast positive advancement
and there are many problems that need to be adressed
SOLUTIONS
if you want to help the planet ,plant a tree every week ,if everyone on the planet did we we would be able to reverse the destructive processes
regulations on carbon producing materials,aerosol cans,burning rubbish,industrial chimneys,powerplants etc.
the capture of carbon and the production of water and assist the aquiferous manta.
Waterharvesting projects ,such as millions of small dams.to redirect over ground waterflows from the rains into the ground to supply subteranian water supplies.
the protection of existing forrests.
stop building more highways, urban planning to include vegetation stop building cities encourage people to return to the land to conduct their business from there which now has become possible thanks to the internet.
education to motivate people to auto sufficiency by building more home food gardens.
education on environmental awareness
Agricultural education and improvements to follow the principals or sustainability and soil management.
more environmental or land ,design to prevent bush fires, such as--fire breaks
,more dams.regulations and control for public behaviour
alternative effeciant public transport to discourage the use of the internal conbustion engine
recicling wastes,limit water use
and if the world cannot get it together soon ,
we can all put our heads between our knees
and kiss our ars*s goodbye
a nice little book with a lot of relevant facts is Plan B

When government becomes answerable to the people of the U.S.A, instead of to the multinational corporations.
Business main mission is to make money, not to be care keeper of the planet. Remember, those who run these large companies, like petroleum companies, don't have much of a science background and if they do, they would still have to answer to the stockholders, who want more money.
It is quite possible that these money making machines have broken from their leash. That is they are in control, with a mind of their own, as well as their own agenda, answering to no one, not even our government. In many cases they seems to have taken control of the government itself by controlling the minds of the people. They do this by confusing the people into seeing things their way. They can bombard them with propaganda and push their buttons. They can buy Politicians, Scientists, Broadcasters, and Votes: whatever it takes to get what they want.
Sounds like something from the "Outer Limits", I know.

When the corporations that control the government find a profitable solution and not one minute before. Maximizing profit for the shareholders is the mission of every corporation and therefore they will do nothing that will result in lower profits. They pull all the strings in Washington DC.
Sorry, but that is capitalism in a nutshell.

i'm doing my area. I wash clothing in chilly water, cut back down on my dryer utilization, use paper luggage, recycle, and so on. i do no longer choose some sore loser hypocrite who made a sci-fi movie, together with his bamboozled followers, tossing some psychobabble at me approximately lowering my "carbon footprint." This all interprets right into a team of elitists who assume us to sacrifice so as that they are in a position to waste all they choose, then they circulate plant some wood to make up for it. you decide directly to talk approximately greenhouse gasses? did you be attentive to human beings are basically responsible for 4% of the CO2 released in the ambience? Mt. St. Helens is reponsible for greater pollutants than human beings have ever made. i'm no longer condoning pollutants. Human pollutants makes me unhappy and we do might desire to be greater responsible. i'm additionally no longer denying worldwide warming, yet i'm very skeptical that it is thoroughly guy-made, and much greater skeptical now that it particularly is been politicized.

When the neocons are booted from office and the energy companies arent making our enrgy policies.
The US under Bush dropped out of kyotot because as bush said, china and india wernt required to participate ( they kick in in 2012 i believe)
However what is misleading here is that americans have a carbon footprint of some 20,000 kg /year/capita, while india and china are both under 1000kg/year/capita
So vote these crooks out if you want change in the US

Do you have any suggestions?
Did you know that a single volcano emits more greenhouse gasses in one month than every person and vehicle on earth does in fifty years?
