where are you from and what nationality is your passport? Hard to tell you if you do or dont if we dont know what your passport says. If you are from the USA or any other EU nation, no visa is necessary for regular vacation travel, you just need your passport, but if you have an extended stay (not sure but I would check if you are planning to stay over 60 days) you would need some sort of visitors visa if the stay is long term.

A valid passport is required for all U.S. citizens and foreign national entering France. Visitors must have ready for presentation at the border documentary evidence of the purpose of the visit, means of support for the duration of the stay and accommodation arrangements.
A visa may be required. It must be requested from a French consulate before departure. Whether you need a visa depends on your nationality and duration of stay in France and possibly on the reason for your visit to France.
The following Americans must have visas:
Holders of diplomatic or official passports on mission
Crew members
Journalists on assignment
Artists, researchers and anyone having a paid activity in France
Students

You don't need a visa to get into any country, other than USA from Russia. You just need a passport, unless you're planning to live in France or whatever country, for 90 days or longer.

You don't need a visa if you are staying less than 3mos. You do need a vaild US passport that will remain valid for at least 3mos longer than your visit to France.
