The best flee control by far is frontline. It is only avliable from a vet. You can get spray or spot on (you put a small amount at the base of the neck).
It lasts upto 3 months.
The animal must been seen by the vet once a year for the vet to give you it but as they should be vaccinated anyway this shouldn't a problem.

theres frontline, advantage, advantix those work good if your dog has them really bad buy advantage but before you put it on get some shampoo that say hypoallergetic(something like that ) or if it say oatmeal because my dog had fleas so bad that her skin need to heal what it does is soothes its skin and then when its dry put the advantage on. BUT DO NOT USE FLEA SHAMPOO
that just irrates the dog. you dont have to buy the soothing shampoo but it will help your dogs skin
just so you know frontline is better than advantage frontlie repells and kills ticks and fleas and mosquitos advantage is also good but it just repels and kills fleas
also if you keep your dog in your house your house prob. has flees and to kill the flees that are in your house. you can buy a flee collar cut it up and put it in your vacum and it will kill the flees but it doesnt work on your dog

Most of the products available at your vets will work well. Always make sure you have treated your home as well as your pets as the fleas will lay eggs and remain in your house until they find a host, so they will just keep coming back.
Get a treatment for your pet from the vet and a spray for your house and pay extra attention to the skirting and around furniture.
The stuff from Supermarkets never works that well for me and they're always back within a couple of weeks.

The best flea control that I know of is living in the state of Wyoming. I've never had a dog or cat with fleas since I've lived here - many years. Other folks will tell you the same thing. Wild animals here have fleas, like foxes and coyotes, etc, so its not like they're just not in the state - they just don't seem to bother domestic animals. It's been nice not having to deal with flea remedies. Good luck to you.

it depends whether you want herbal or chemical.
One of the best natural ways to get rid of fleas is to feed garlic. Its absorbed into your pets body and fleas hate it!
Other wise go with a frontline spot on or spray. I'd alternate between the two as there are instances where using spot on too regularly can cause skin problems. Something we aren't told by the manufacturers or vets!

Frontline and Advantage from the vets are good. Any product can cause a problem in any given dog. They are all different. I use an otc product called Bio Spot. It is just as good. It costs less. I've used it for over 10 years. I've used it on all my dogs and on 5 years worth of rescue dogs.

Frontline Plus (you get this from you vet). It is a once a month application to the back of their fur and you will never see a flea again! Even if they have some fleas, this will kill them off.
VERY IMPORTANT!!!
Do not buy ANY flea controls from your petstore because these can harm your pet and even cause death. They are not made properly and have caused Death, seizures, allergic reactions, etc.

The best flea control all depends on your area, your breed of dog, and how often your pet is outside. Not knowing these things, I would say the best flea control is the type recommended by your vet. Your vet would be able to know what flea control is effective based on your dog's age, weight, and breed.

Frontline Plus. It worked for me. My Lilly has been Flea free for almost a year now. Also, vet told me to use soap free shampoo...should say on the bottle. You can get it at the vet or at Petsmart. Frontline is also waterproof.
