The most important thing to remember is that while here on earth, he was human, and dealt with REAL issues...he knows what it's like to be here and have problems.

Seriously-if you want Christians only, go to a Christian forum. Sheesh.
Anyways, from non-Christian perspective, I think the most important thing about Jesus is what he preached-love, kindness, respect, and forgiveness. Let the one without sin cast the first stone-I may not believe in sin, but there is a heavy lesson in there-let whoever is perfect be the first to judge and criticize. And since no one is perfect, who has the right to do that? Nobody. Christians and non-Chrstians alike could learn from his teachings.

I would say that the most important thing about Jesus is that he is the great Mediator. He atoned for our sins so that we could have the opportunity of returning to live with our Father in Heaven. He lived a sinless life and was sacrificed as a perfect offering to God. He rose from the dead to overcome physical death. Because of Jesus Christ we all will have the opportunity to be resurrected, and we all are given the opportunity to repent and be forgiven of our sins. Otherwise, none of us would be able to enter the Kingdom of Heaven because we all have fallen short of keeping God's law.

um, Junky Chain, just because Jesus was from africa doesnt make him black. thats like saying being from america makes you white. Jesus was Jewish. Jewish people are Arabic in appearance. a darker tone than your typical european, but with an olive undertone. your typical european has a tan tone with a red or pink undertone (for example, Lips and nipples are a good indication of the undertone of the skin.)
That being said, i'm not a Christian (Anymore) but i think the most important thing about Jesus is his teachings that so many people twist around. take the red letters, and go from there.

What is a Christian? A Christians is two things as Jesus said:
Joh 11:26 and whosoever liveth and believeth on me shall never die. Believest thou this?
1. They live on Jesus (make him the Lord and Master of their life(follow him))
2. They believe on him (believe who he is and what he did)
And what did Jesus say about himself:
Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no one cometh unto the Father, but by me.
They should know the nature of Jesus as we are to be like him. We are to love the things he loved and hate the things he hated build the things he built and tear down the things he tore down. And we are to correct the things he corrected.
Finally tell them that Jesus is the only way to Heaven.

The most important thing is He is God and traded heaven for a body and humble life because He loved us. The beating, the cross, the pain and humiliation was all for each of us personally. That is what changes everything when you finally get it. It is a personal thing...He looked down the ages and saw ME and saw how desperately I needed a saviour. And at this very moment He is there at the throne defending me. Everytime I do something stupid, nasty, ungodly, etc, He is there covering for me. When God looks at me, He sees the blood covering me. That is grace, getting something (Salvation) you don't deserve, mercy is not getting what you deserve, (punishment). that's when it's the greatest, when it gets down to me and Him, and I call on Him and there He is. My Saviour and Redeemer, and He promises He will come back and get me and He is right now building my house. That 's a promise..

According to the Bible (Hebrews 1; Colossians 1) Jesus, He is the exact representation of God. He said "If you have seen me then you have seen the Father" (John 14).

forgiveness.
in that case, i would focus on God as Father, Abba.
growing up, knowing Jesus as God the Father meant more to me than anything else, there are so many children whos parents fall short, or are simply human. from a young age, we idealize our parents, and must learn that the only parent we can truly idealize is God.
