The best explanation I've run across . . .

"Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country
protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of
illegal immigration. Certain people are angry that the " U.S. might
protect its own borders, might make it harder to sneak into this country
and, once here, to stay indefinitely. Let me see if I correctly
understand the thinking behind these protests.

Let's say I break into your house. Let's say that when you discover
me in your house, you insist that I leave. But I say, "I've made all
the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors;
I've done all the things you don't like to do. I'm hard-working and
honest (except for when I broke into your house)."

According to the protesters, not only must you let me stay, you must add
me to your family's insurance plan and provide other benefits to me and
to my family (my husband will do your yard work because he too is
hard-working and honest, except for that breaking in part).

If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends
who will picket your house carrying signs that proclaim my right to be
there. It's only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I
do, and I'm just trying to better myself. I'm hard-working and honest
.. Um, except for ... Well, you know.

And what a deal it is for me!! I live in your house, contributing
only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do
about it without being accused of selfishness, prejudice and being
anti-housebreaker.

DID I MISS ANYTHING? DOES THIS SOUND REASONABLE TO YOU?? IF
IT DOES, GRAB A SIGN AND GO PICKET SOMETHING. IF THIS SOUNDS
INSANE TO YOU, CALL YOUR SENATORS AND ENLIGHTEN THEM BECAUSE THEY ARE
STUMBLING IN THE DARKNESS RIGHT NOW AND REALLY NEED YOUR HELP.

never could've said it better.

my family and i are immigrants, too, but we all came here with appropriate visas - we didn't cross borders, climb fences, or swim across channels...we worked here with appropriate documentation/work permits, paid taxes, and did not misuse the benefits system...that's why i take the same stance and feel very strongly against illegal immigration.

I already have, One of bush's flunky's sent back some BS statement. I had to come back and add a comment to Carmella's response. If you love them so much for being here illegal, then you pay for there medical etc... The way you talk you must not be employed. Because I hate that my hard earned tax dollars are going for there taxes etc. that they don't pay. Hey nobody told them to go work in the sweat shops, or any place else. If they were legal they wouldn't be there either. so maybe.....DUUUHHH, if everybody did it the correct way the sweat shops would have to go out of business..Maybe the growers would have to stop paying a BS wage to the pickers. It has to start and it has to stop somewhere. You have heard of the saying ..If you do it right the first time you don't have to come back and do it again.

Why don't you do a little bit more research, illegals pay taxes and social security that they will never use, why do you think they dont want to make Mexicans legals? they make millions of dollars of of them because we know they cant work without a social security number, so what they do is get a fake one wich the goverment has to know is being used cause they get money off each person that uses it...... there's a lot of facts that people aren't aware of.... but what you dont see is that the goverment is trying to guide you in a different direction, instead of seeing all the f***** up things they're doing in the middle east they want you to focus in something that has be going on for years and years.... oh my God!! all of a suden is a big priority......please ppl !
go educate yourselfs before you talk so much garbage!!

You know your stuff man ... tyour analogy is excactly what is happening with illegal immigrants. They want us to bend the rules and forget that they've broken the law. So what you mop floors and pick lettuce. How about paying some Federal income tax. All they do is have lots of kids, live 20 to a house and suck up the welfare programs here. Build the damn fence already.

It's too bad the pilgrams didn't run into a 10 ft chain-link fence when they hit Plymoth Rock. I wonder what the native word for it was!??!!! I'd like to know where these "sources" are coming from. I live in a town that is at least 1/4 Mexican. They all have jobs, all pay taxes, rent, utilities, truck payments, ect. They raise good kids and lead quiet lives. I know, I live in the "Mexican" side of town. We don't have things stolen out of our yard, and we certainly don't find them in our house. In alot of ways, their better than "White" neighbors!

your family immigrated here...what makes you so freekin special. cuz your skin is white? your grandpapa and grandmama had to do **** you NEVER would do to get here and stay here...just like the new immigrants. you are probably a christian too, right? so much for brotherly love. i want to see you go wash them dishes and work in them sweatshops when the immigrants leave town...we will all be hungry and naked when they take them all away cuz we are too freekin lazy to work like dogs. i am a 2nd generation mexican/american. i speak english as a FIRST language. ALL of my mexican family works and is LEGAL. it has always been that way since grandma came over here as a LEGAL SLAVE (look that up, white child). i know illegals who pay taxes only to never be able to claim them. i know illegals who sit in long *** lines in general hospitals to see a doctor only when their kids seriously need help, otherwise there is no medical for the family. i know those people who live 10 to an apartment...trust me, they make do and are more happy than your average white bread family just because they know gratitude...do you? get over yourself, the world was meant for all of us to share. what makes anyone better than anyone else...birthplace? really? are you sure? i doubt that is a good enough excuse.

I totally agree with you. I have written my congressman and any politician who will listen to me. As an American I am tired of illegal immigrants taking advantage of the system we have. I think if you are illegal in this country you either need to get with the program or get out. I don't mind people who want to better themself, but I don't want to spend my hard earned money supporting them any longer. Let them have their protests. But ask them why they won't apply for citizenship and I bet you won't get a response.
