You cannot copy movie DVD's using CD burner. You need to have at least a combo DVD+R/DVD-R/CD Writer..which you can burn on single layer DVD's and CD-R's. Single layer DVD's are DVD-R and DVD+R format. For newer DVD players, DVD+R play best. They hold about 4.7 gigabytes worth of storage. They usually cost between 30-50 cents a piece. However, if you have a big file (e.g. movie), you might have to compress it using a special software.

The new DVD DL (Dual Layer) have 8.5 gigabytes worth of storage. You need a Dual Layer burner in that case. But each DL disc costs about $2-3. There is usually no need for compression in this case.

You can burn any type of files on DVD's..generally though...for DVD play..you need to burn .mp3, .mp4, .avi, .vob with .ifo, type files.

I'm not sure of the correct name of the file or files but a program called DVD Ripper will copy a movie off a regular DVD and burn it onto a Regular CD using the CD burner on a PC. It usually takes about 2 or 3 CD's to copy a movie that's on a DVD though because a regular CD won't hold as much as a DVD. However most movies being put on DVD today are being copyright protected and will not allow you to copy them. You will just get an error message if you try.

no, you will need a DVD writer instead of a CD writer....very special format, and there are two DVD formats out there now. DVD writers run about 50.00, will burn regular CD's, AND DVD's, as well as read both. Considering how much time it takes to burn a movie in DVD format (hours), just buy the movie. Good luck

Files saved on I-tunes. Download to your Desktop or Laptop and save by music category. I've never watched a movie enough to copy it.
