Generally speaking

an idiot is a man with an IQ of 45 or less
a stupid is a man with an IQ between 46 and 85
a moron is a man with an IQ between 86 and 90
normal intelligence is a man with an IQ between 91 and 110
greater than normal intelligence or intelligent is a man with an IQ between 111 and 160
a genius is a man with an IQ higher than 160

being able to learn from your mistakes only means that you have an IQ level greater than 90 and are intelligent enough to learn new things from past mistakes, it does not raise your IQ level to the status of a genius.

We dont get genius honey, we just get more experienced for not falling in the same mistakes or at least accept that we are making the same mistakes. Or in the best case we are supposed to change some things so results are better for us next time!!( I hope ).

If we learn from our mistakes then certainly history would learn from its mistakes too....but it doesn't.
Maybe we are different? Although it is the humans that cause history to be made and we keep repeating them over and over.
I guess that doesn't make us very smart.
So don't feel bad, Laura. Everyone does it and is not a genius.

Because although your mistakes seem grand to you, they can not compare to the number and magnitude of the mistakes of others. Even the collosal errors I have made have to be dwarfed by those of, say, Thomas Edison, who made more mistakes making the first light bulb than I have in my entire life.

Besides, I only learn what doesn't work. It doesn't stop me from doing it again!

well just by reading your questions
and just looking at you
I can tell you do to have to many mistakes under your belt...
and the ones you have made are little ones, ones that do teach you stuff but seeing that the mistakes you make are tiny ones..they also teach you small things..
so I guess you would have to make some real big ones..in order to get that smart..
but I doubt you will ever make those huge mistakes, it is just not in you
good luck

Because genius is just a term to say someone is exceptionally intelligent. Let it go.
