Because many feel threatened, not by God, but by the people trying to force their religion on them. If some get too pushy, they blame it on the god and not organized religion. But of course, most of these same people ask "why do people believe in God?" It's just a matter of perspective.

They're not disrespecting God. They're disrespecting your version of God. Not everyone's image of God is the same as yours.

Some of us don't share your belief in a God, therefore it is not a matter of disrespect, it is a matter of disbelief.

Because they can't see him and feel him, maybe. But people disrespect people and they can see them.

Because people naturally being under authority and naturally scoff at it, even if it is God. It will be the downfall of us all.

there are almost 7 billion people on this planet. do you really expect them to just snap out of theirselves and assume a singularity of thought, emotion and perception that YOU consider ideal?

Because they are scared of a higher power. They don't know what they believe so they will shun anything that they can't understand themselves.
