It all depends on the delivery.
If you are approaching someone out of the blue and tell them "Hi, I'm an Adventist, want to talk?" they are probably afraid of being preached at and caught in an unsolicited sermon. I would take the hint in that case and back off.
If it's something that comes up in conversation and someone says, "Hey, I'm Catholic" and others pipe in and share their religious beliefs then it would be rude for your companions to just ignore you for sharing yours as well.
Perception is everything and if people are ignoring you, it probably means you're coming across as preaching, in an unsolicited manner.

It may just be that they do not understand what an Adventist is b/c for myself I had to research it and now I understand. Really to resolve the problem I think you should explain your faith and denomination to people. I hope I understood right that the Adventist faith was much like the baptist denomination right?

No, it has nothing to do with you. It has to do with the way they were raised... ignorant. I am a Mormon and I have friends of all religions (and Johnny Zondo, Mormons and 7th Day Adventist are 2 different religions) We should never be ashamed of what our religious beliefs are unless we do not believe them. Your religion, just as mine has been frowned apon for what we believe. Stand your ground as long as you believe it 100%.

Well, it might be that you do not use your Check Spelling so you come across as a little uneducated. I mean nothing bad by that, I just thought that you might like to know. By the way, I am also a Sabbath Keeper. I believe as did the founders, and not this modern stuff. If you are interested, you could go to my brothers web site to learn more. end-time-answers.com

Unfortunately too many people do not practice religious tolerance or tolerance of any kind, people are very closed minded and far to many think if you don't believe the way they do or attend their church you are wrong and your going to hell and all that babble. Or they try to save you from your self and I for one really hate people who try to push their belief system on me. Hence the old saying you should never discuss religion or politics!

Adventism is looked on by many Christians to be a cult because of it's accepting customs/traditions they consider to be Jewish.
Frankly, I have no problems with them. They also tend to be some of the healthiest people on the planet!

People in America, for some reason, choose to ignore the teachings of their denominations or religions. They choose instead to judge others for their beliefs. Don't let it get you down.]
Stand up for what you believe in, even if you stand alone.

They may think you are too religious. I agree with you though (or what I think an adventist is).
