i agree with you. i think we should tie murderers rapists and child molesters to a pole, beat them senseless and slash them up to pieces and display it for all the world to see.

And what about those people who are wrongfully accused and convicted and have done nothing wrong?Do you want their deaths on your head? Whether public executions would help would depend upon the individual. There are some who would never knowingly commit a crime and others who do so out of desperation. Lately this country seems to breed that kind of thing as the have-alots get even more, and the haves and have-nots seem to lose what little they have, especially under the current administration and his cohorts. Other "civilized" countries don't have nearly the level of crimes as we do. Maybe we should start by looking at what they are doing and see if we can implement some of that. However, I don't see us doing it as there are too many people in this country who want us to live by their rules while they do whatever they please.

The United States is the only civilized nation still executing criminals. We also have higher crime rates.
We do not address the issues of poverty and undereducatoin. This often leads to petty crime and it evolves to worse crimes.
Let us remember that we are all human beings, worthy of dignity and respect. It is horrible when people hurt others. Though it is often ignored there is usually a reason. I believe crime would decrease if we invested in the persons redemption more than his demise. Convicted felons who have been given reason to believe in themselves and have been shown forgivness tend to reenter society as better citizens, often better than those who never commit a crime.
It is the basic premise of christian forgiveness, though often ignored and unused as it doesnt suit the desire of most of us. It concerns me why any person would want to watch or participate in someone elses death at any level. Whether it is murder or state ordered murder by execution. You wouldnt want to watch a mother murdered, would you? Yet you would in a court setting. There is no difference. There is somthing deeply disturbing and aberrant about this behaviour.

Great idea. I always liked the idea of letting the victims of the perpetrator choose how to deal with him. We could also ship all those bad guys over to Iraq. That might help. I'm not sure all of it would really deter crime, but it might. I think the best deterrence would actually be to CATCH the majority of the criminals. I read somewhere that only about 1/3 of criminals are ever brought to justice. Now that's just sad.

I think this would be a great system. Some people deserve to be killed for crimes they commit. I think this is a great way to make people suffer for the horrible things they do to people. Someone like that doesn't deserve to rot in jail, they need to feel the pain of the victim's loved ones. Sorry, this is how I feel. I think the victim's loved ones should decide which way is best to kill them. Lethal injection is definitely not the way to go, its painless.

Criminals only commit crime because they think they can get away with it. Death penalty or no, if a person think they can get away with it, they'll do it.
