Your approved stay in the U.S. does NOT depend on when your visa expires --- it depends on the date on your I-94, Arrival Departure Record expires. You received this when you went through Immigration at the airport or land port-of-entry.
The I-94 is a little white card that will has your name and stamped or written on it, will have your entry date and the date by which you MUST leave the U.S.
Unless you file a form requesting an extension of your approved stay, you will become illegal the day after the I-94 expires. Just because your visa expires April 2007 DOES NOT mean you can stay in the U.S. until April of 2007. In fact, it DOES NOT mean that at all. If you stay in the U.S. after the date of that your I-94 expires, you will be illegally in the U.S. This will also have the effect of automatically canceling your visa, and will most likely prevent you from getting a new visa in the future.
NOTE: If you need to extend your stay in the U.S., you must file the form below with the Service Center in your region and the office MUST receive it before the date your I-94 expires.
Also, to get the extension you will have to show you have a valid passport. So do that quickly!
Good luck!

Yeah that's what I was going to say is go to your consulate. Technically your visa is in a computer, not the thing in your passport. However, the old pssport is your physical evidence of being in the country legally, and it doesn't matter to us that it has expired. The renewed passport is more for when you go back to your country. If you go out of the country for some reason & plan on comming back, you should travel with both passports, & present both at US customs on returning.

you would elect a passport, contact the embassy of the country you're vacationing too. you would no longer even desire that in case you're vacationing on your domicile usa. edit - oops, definite there's a ban in case you go away on your own, hmmm perchance you want to sneak in another usa... wierd.

When you renew your passport, they should link your visa to it. You might want to keep the old one too, if they let you, so you have proof of legal admission to the US.
Good luck!
