The most difficult thing about a first date is that you don't know the other person very well. That lack of familiarity can lead to a number of moments where there is an awkward silence, while each of you thinks of something to say. Because of that, it's a good idea to take a date to "dinner and a movie," but always go to the movie first. If you do, you'll always have something to talk about over dinner, even if the movie was bad. If you want to impress your date, take them to a really nice restaurant (or for their favorite food - Mexican, Italian, Chinese, whatever).

Coffee shop, museum, a park - anywhere that you can carry on a conversation.
Dinner and a move seem to top the list too often, but a movie is one of the least social interactive places to go.

go window shopping at the mall, have lunch there with some friends, if you go on a date with just you and her, maybe a movie would be in order its kinda a cliche though. i went on a first date to her kids baseball game with her.

I think probley the movies! Thats where i would like to go even though im single! lol but thats where ive gone on first dates so hope that helps ya.
