~~~~~~Ok. I have braces for ummm.. about 8 months now. And trust me it does not hurt. Ok when you first go you then get spacers which is very painful (it feels like a big chunk of meat stuck between your teeth) Then you go to your next to pull the it out (WOOHOO) Then they put your brackets on but you don't get your wire on yet. They will give some wax to put on if it irritates your cheeks. After a few days you go to put on the wire. It doesn't hurt yet. When you go to sleep it will start to hurt. About a week it will stopped hurting. Getting it tightening doesn't hurt either. They just switch wires and changes colors. Just remember to brush your teeth and it will not hurt. Oh yeah remember that you got braces for straight teeth! Yeah they do put this silly putty thing to get your teeth impressions yeah it might choke you but it didn't me just remember to breathe thru your nose. The week when you just stat getting braces take a pain-relieving medicine for the pain. Yeah it would hurt when you press on your teeth or you bite your hamburger. I know they warned you not to eat hard sticky chewy food but I tried all and it doesnt do anything. ~~~~~~
Good Luck,
Vy
I had braces for about 18 mos when i was in 9th grade, and the only times they really hurt were: in the beginning, when I was getting used to them, every 3 weeks when I got them tightened they would hurt for a day, and then sometimes the wires would irritate in the inside of my mouth, but they sell this wax stuff you can use to cover sharp ends. Looking back, I am glad I got the braces. At the time I hated them, but they did make my smile nicer. :-D
They only time that braces would hurt is when they are first put on and every month you have to go to get them adjusted and it hurts. I should know I have braces and yeah they are pretty cool.
Sometimes, they do. The dentist will give you white wax for the pain and you can take aspirin. The pain, in my experience, is never so bad it is unbearable. The result will last a lifetime and is worth the small amount of discomfort.
The process of putting them on isn't that bad. But if they have to tighten them on you that is slightly painful. Braces are very expensive and if your teeth aren't in bad shape then I wouldn't have them put on.
Yes, but you'll adjust. You have to get them tightened once a month or something like that, so it hurts the day they tighten it.
When they tighten them it is a pain. And what you can't eat is a pain to.
