:Your dog is communicating long distance to my dogs who also are barking in response. It just looks like they are barking at nothing to us because our hearing isn't as acute as theirs. Didn't you know, they have been carrying on a conversation about us?

Dogs have senses that many humans don't have. Even though you don't know there may be another dog calling somewhere in the area. Also, it is said that spirits find dogs to talk to when they are alone. Dogs have a sixth sense that let them hear and see things humans can't find to understand. If you hear of a dog whisperer he/she can probably find what is wrong with you're dog. It may seem annoying but it's only that wierd sixth sense kicking in. On a television show I watched on Discovery a couple days ago showed a way to help. Take a camera and turn it on and move it around the are a where the dog is barking. If there is a "spirit" , then you will see a light in the shape of a circle. Then, move the dog away from the area and try to calm him down(petting, playing etc.)After move the dog back to the area and if he/she still barks repeat the steps.I tried it with my dog it worked ;so I guess it will work with yours also.Good Luck!!!!:-)

Your dog is most likely barking at nothing. Dogs can hear at a higher and lower frequency than humans can so when it hears a weird noise your dog will start to bark to tell you he/she heard something weird. It may seem like he/she is barking at nothing because you may not have heard it due to the frequency may be out of human's range.

dogs have very good ears,he can hear 10 times better than we can.. they could hear the neighbors car door shut, or even bark at things on t.v.(my dog always barks at noises when I'm watching t.v.) yes,it does get annoying, but i would rather have a dog bark at stupid stuff, than to not bark at all!!!!

How do you know he's barking at nothing? He could see or hear something that you don't. Dogs have highly developed sense of hearing.

Dogs sometimes act strangely when a storm is coming because of the pressure change

Hiya, we thought my dog did that, but when i asked the vet he said that dogs usually pick up sounds that we can't hear, such as very distant thunder. This could be the reason.
Hope this helps!

He isn't barking at nothing. He hears something you cannot hear, and is responding.
