No matter how you think you look, you are probably wrong. Low self esteem sounds like the culprit. You have to have confidence in your abilities to make a girl happy. You'd be surprised how many girls don't really care about looks. It sounds that all you lack is self confidence. Believe in yourself and the doors will open for you. Maybe you need to do some soul searching and see what you truly feel is ugly about you. Remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

My husband was shy and all that, and when he first talked to me I didn't think he was extremely cute or anything. The thing that impressed me about him is that he was always himself. He never tries to impress people by being something he's not. I think he's the cutest guy in the world now that I know him. It doesn't seem like he'd be an interesting guy...his hobbies are computer games, movies, building computers, etc. but everyone loves him. The best bet is to be yourself, and let your good qualities show through your actions. As for your half question, you aren't ugly...if you have the qualities you listed you will eventually end up with someone really nice.
My husband started talking to me by asking me what I thought about college. We ended up talking for 3 hours after that! You don't have to talk about anything profound..just ask how they're doing or something and go on from there.

you know what's a turn-off? when a guy thinks he's ugly. in fact when anyone thinks they're ugly is a turn-off so take a deep breath, look in the mirror and say "I'm attractive," and kid, believe it. who cares what other people think as long as you're content with yourself, anyway? people don't like other people who are so down about themselves because you could be so much more and talking to random people is hard. sometimes it's weird talking to random people but if you're observant i'm pretty sure you could find something to talk about!
there are girls out there who are so into the shy type though ... and if the girl's interested she'll probably stick around long enough to see your good qualites. just don't worry about it.
cliche comes: just be yourself, man, you'll be fine.

Sweetie, your not ugly at all, your very cute. Don't worry about being shy there are girls that are shy as well maybe even more than you. Let conversation flow, don't worry about what your talking about but at least realize that you are talking. Anything is a great topic, look here sex, love, family, religion, movies, music, school, life goals, pets, ect. ect. and so on and so forth, hey I saw that little yellow sports car on your 360 page, hey great conversation piece if I do say so myself, hey write me I'll chat with you. Well first off - you need to have more confidence in yourself. Otherwise no matter what anyone tells you it will never work. Of course physical attraction is what gets most people's attention, but not always. You really just need to boost your self confidence and be proud of who you are and what you have to offer to someone else.
As for the 1/2 question - can't get a real good look at your picture so I couldn't tell you. But I can tell you that you should appreciate your friends for what they tell you - they know you for who you really are and that's why they think your cute.
Good luck to you!

FIRST THE 1/2 QUESTION,AGAIN TO ALL MY READERS,DO NOT THINK DOWN OF YOURSELF.THERE'S NOTHING WORSE FOR A FEMALE TO SEE THAN A MALE WHO FEELS SORRY FOR HIMSELF AND HAS NO POSITIVE OUTLOOK ON LIFE.HOW DO YOU EXPECT TO BE ABLE TO TALK TO THE LADIES,IF YOU CAN'T EVEN LOOK YOURSELF STRAIGHT IN THE FACE IN THE MIRROR WITHOUT THINKING NEGATIVE ABOUT YOURSELF.NO MORE OF THIS! REPEAT AFTER ME WHILE LOOKING IN THE MIRROR........WHAT A HANDSOME CREATION GOD MADE.SOUNDS STUPID?WHAT ABOUT ASKING OTHERS IF YOU'RE CUTE OR NOT? FOR THE FIRST QUESTION,YOU HAVE TO GET OVER BEING SHY,LEARN TO ASK EVERYDAY QUESTIONS TO START OFF.(QUESTIONS ABOUT TEACHERS,OR SUBJECTS,ALSO LIKE PLANS FOR THE WEEKEND) MOST OF THE TIME, AS YOU GET OLDER YOU'LL FIND OUT,IF YOU OPEN THE DOOR TO A CONVERSATION TO WOMEN,THEY'LL CONTINUE ON.YOU JUST HAVE TO KNOW WHEN AND WHERE TO PICK UP THE CONVERSATION.SOUNDS DIFFICULT? NOT REALLY,TRY IT OUT AND SEE.

Beauty is not shown completely on the exterior side as much as it is on the interior. If she sees the beauty and compassion in your heart and soul then she's one to be with. Otherwise, I wouldn't waste another second on someone whom is too blinded to see qualities possessed from within. Being shy is one thing but to put yourself down for your looks is another, no one is ugly only their dispositions and choices are.

Well, since people, especially girls, like to talk about themselves, you could ask her questions about herself and that could keep you guys talking. Also, you need to get some confidence because if it's obvious that you think you're "shy, ugly, and initially boring" then girls are going to see that. Girls like confident guys, so act like it even if you're not.
And you're not ugly...you're actually kinda cute (and i'm not just saying that) :-)

Dude, you lack confidence.
Women do not care so much about looks. Money, yes. Listen to them, yes. Care for them, yes.
Do not worry about looks.
As for being shy, it is part of life. Find something she likes and go with it. Talk or listen to her about that subject.
Forcing things get you no where.
Good Luck
