click it or ticket is something that's going on across the nation, meaning that now cops are allowed to pull people over simply for not wearing their seat belts, where as they used to have to have another reason and then if they weren't wearing their belts then they could issue them a ticket.
they are doing this because seatbelts save lives... yes there are some cases where a person would have died if they had been wearing their seat belt, but the odds are so much more in favor that a seat belt will save your life...
like the person above said... they are tired of scraping people off the roads...

First of all,Officers don't make the the Laws, they just enforce them..If they don't have their seat belts on, you can charge them.Click it or Ticket was placed into effect by the NHSTA as a campaign to make people understand why it is important to use seat belts. Think...If you were involved in a accident and no seat belt was worn or no child restraint used,you/your child could become a projectile within your own vehicle. That means your head or body will connect with the car, probably will HURT.

My cousin works in towing for the san jose pd (cali) and he has seen some NASTY accidents, all where people literally need to be scraped/peeled/shoveled off the pavement because someone wasn't wearing their seat belt. I don't know about Utah, but it is against the law here to not wear a seat belt. People who don't wear one are breaking a law, and should be punished.
It is also illegal to throw a cigarette out the window...in some counties across the country that is a $1000 fine along with 36 hours community service.

I mean, this is great and will help prevent people from dying in their vehicles. I sometimes forget to wear mine, but I will think twice when I see a cop or if I am driving in high speeds. I don't think you should get pulled over for just not having one on, that is the person's choice. I think if your speeding or breaking another law while driving, then they should pull you over, but not just for a seat belt. Too many people die each year for not wearing a seat belt and people, including myself should wear one always, you may regret it one day.

You must understand that this is a police tactic to pull you over. Once you are pulled over, they'll look for a valid registration, and driver's licence. Just Click it and avoid the problems.

there say it'll reduce injuries in accidents if you wear your seatbelt and its a law so it wouldn't be great to break it...can't they take your license if you are caught too many times?
