From the scientific point of view, at least, everything has a cause and effect. Why did anything happen? Because something else made it happen. A gun goes off, because I pulled the trigger, because my finger squeezed the trigger, because my brain sent an impulse, because my eye saw the guy who killed my mom, etc. Everything has a cause. All the way back.
I got into it with a counselor buddy, who said "life without free will would not be worth living" BUT he said that because of how he felt, which was based on how he was raised, which was due to how his parents were raised, etc.
Even his clients, who he says learn to make different choices, do so BECAUSE he taught them that they have options, and how to make better choices.

ok I mispelled Free. Why is everyone's spelling so bad on these boards?
Anyway, you feed your kids. Why? Because your brain tells you they are important to you. There is a cause to that as well. My brain causes my actions at any given moment, but my life up until that moment caused my brain to be exactly the way it was at that moment.

First of all, fee will would mean that you pay to do something. I assume you meant "free will."
Stop for a moment to look at the meaning of the word, "will." Will is the mental faculty by which one deliberately chooses or decides upon a course of action.
While you may have seen the guy who killed your mom, it was your CHOICE to pick up the gun and use it. The 'cause' as you put it, does not control your ability to make a choice one way or another.

regardless of your environment or any external stimuli you always have at least two choices. Yes or No.
a gun is held to your head, the gunman says give me your wallet!
you have two choices comply or not to comply
your Girl friend and you are mugged and the gunman starts raping her. you have to choose to let him because your fear or you do something about it? what will you do?
using cause and effect is an excuse for not doing something or shifting blame for bad choices to someone or something else.
the fact is, you make the best decision at the time based on the factors at the time, the best way you can. you exercised freedom of choice.

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said, explaining the view of the Muslims with regard to man’s deeds:
People act in a real sense, and Allaah is the Creator of their actions. A person may be a believer or a disbeliever, righteous or immoral, he may pray and fast. People have control over their actions, and they have their own will, and Allaah is the Creator of their control and will, as Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight.
And you cannot will unless (it be) that Allaah wills the Lord of the creation”

Well we do have free will and you seem to know that by the details you wrote about.
We have the choice to obey laws, to get a job, to get married, to have a child, to get up in the morning or not, to have manners, to have good or bad habits, to go to church or whatever. How is that not free will?

Because the government can never have enough money, so they have to tax everything I have a will to do. I want a pack of smoke......wham!........two dollars extracted from my pocket to uncle sam. I want to cruise over to Hatter's across town........whack!........there goes two dollars for every gallon of gas thrown away. It's because nobody wants to work for a living, everyone wants big brother government to cover their sorry behind, that's why there is fee will.

There is no free will, there is perhaps limited authority given to us by God due to the circumstances created for each individual like our capabilities, surroundings, social and economical and much more.
Talking about this limited authority, we have free will to choose any thing about ourselves.

It is certain that we have free will, but it is also obvious that we are influenced by what we decide about the actions and ideas of other people. We learn from what we see and experience and we decide in like manner.

The doctrine of free will is not scriptural beyond having the ability to rebel against Gods will, and we all know from the story of satan how that works out.
