If you want to get out, the best way is to go to the chaplain on base. The chaplain is your best hope. Speak with him about being attracted to your fellow officers (yes, in a gay way!), that you find you feel this way often, don't know what to do about it, your'e really confused, etc. Also, if you had any recreational drug use in your past, now is the time to mention it, and that you just don't feel you made the right choice in joining the military., etc. The chaplain was the first person I spoke with before I got out. If you are already on base, he will be your best resource. Whatever you do, just make sure you don't go overboard (sounding like a total nutjob will get you some serious time in the psychiatric ward, where no one will be able to contact you, you will have no contact with the outside world, and godknows what could happen to you.)
Failing a drug test is also a way to get booted quick, but think, think about your future. Do what you can to get an honorable discharge, or a medical discharge, having a dishonorable discharge is almost like having a prison record.
Accidentally shooting yourself in the foot might do it, but save that for a last resort. Also, do not try to committ any crime to get out. The only thing/place worse than a military psyche ward is military prison.
Good luck- I truly wish you the best. If none of my advice works, I would suggest bookin' it to Canada or Mexico until this frigging war is over.
Love, Joan

hey no one made you enlist. If all service men were COWARDS where in the hell would that leave those of us that stayed in until our time was up not to mention the civilians who are disabled and wish they could serve.the military excepts gays now so don't try that.be a MAN and go on and serve your country.Think of the MEN that fought and died for YOU..Prove that I'm wrong and that you ARE NOT A COWARD. It will go by faster than you think.

Believe me, you are better off staying in if you enlisted. Whatever measures you take for an early exit will follow you the rest of your life. You can be gay or mentally unstable, but anything other than an Honorable discharge will not be good for you in the long run. Be all you can be.

sorry to have to tell you this, but the easiest way is to do your four years honorably. There might be "quicker" ways, but they are ALL long drawn out processes that takes months to years. And the stress of being chewed out by everyone from your NCO's up the chain isn't worth the effort.

Well there was one girl in my basic training that claimed that she was trying to slit her wrist with her locker key... I think she got kicked out simply because people couldn't believe she was so stupid to think she could cut her wrist with a locker key...

But honestly, don't do it. You'll have it on your record that you were kicked out of the army cause you're crazy and I don't think too many people would want to hire a crazy person in the civilian sector.

-- Become a flaming homosexual (making a pass at a same-gender superior will move this along as well)
-- Develop uncontrollable immoral habits
-- Assault an officer
-- Get arrested for a felony
-- Develop a mental illness
-- Steal a highly classified weapon
-- Go AWOL

There is nothing sad to declare that you are gay.
Say it - and add that you are emotionally not able to be within "Don't ask- don't tell" policy anymore. Tell'em you are seeking for their advice. Eventually you will get rid of the service and keep all benefits.
