its from a song, meaning THE SKY....."......off we go[ in our airplanes] into the wild blue yonder, off we go into the sky...." i think thats how it goes....." yonder" is an old slang term meaning "over there" no specific distance , but usualy far away.

Its a phrase (lyric) taken from the the US Air Force song. Literally means heading out into boundless blue (sky) spaces.

It means the open sky. You may have heard it in an airline ad because they advertise flying across the free, open skies.
