Saving him would create a different timeline. Then you couldn't return to the timeline you are familiar with. So be prepared for the results of affecting the past when you head back.

personally, If I could travel back to that time, I would choose not to. We're not meant to have the option to save him- but in a 'death is not an option' (no pun intended) kinda situation, I'd say no, because there's much more depending on Him being crucified than just the suffering of one person- however hard that may be.

No one else could. IEven Jesus prevented a legion of angels from interceding.
1. The debt of sin would not be paid in full if He was rescued from the cross.
2. The blood of Jesus would have no effect in believer's lives.
3. He would not have offered and preached salvation to those who were in Paradise.
4. He would not have taken the keys away from the devil.
5. He would have not defeated death and Hell.
6. He would not been able to prepare a place for us in Heaven.
7. satan would have been victorious.
The cross is paramount for the believers. Without this foundation, victory would have been unattainable.

If Jesus were saved from being crucified then you could only have your sins forgiven in the old testament ways. Sacrificing animals. I doubt anyone has that many animals for everyone. Now you just have to ask God to forgive you for your sins, in Jesus name, to be forgiven. And mean it of course. Isn't that so much better. Although it is sad that a man had to die for us.

Sorry I'm pretty damn selfish. If I could go back in time I would there are a million things I would do for my own benefit (IE investing in Microsoft when it first came out). Or undoing personal mistakes I have made in my life.
I must have said a million times "man I wish I could go back in time to fix...." Never has the end of the sentence been "to save Jesus."

Because of domino effects it would be dangerous to change anyting back in time. In fact you might end up changing the future in such a way that it would erase your own existance, but then how could be living in the future to go to the past to change it? This is wierd.

If he wanted me to, I would, however my first stop in the time machine would be 600 years after Jesus where I would look for a nasty animal named Muhammad and pop a cap into it.

No. But I would try to help comfort His Mother. And I'd cook for the Apostles while they sat around in grief, wondering. Then, when He'd showed them Himself, risen, I'd host a welcome back party!
Why not try to save Him? Saving is HIS job. And that's how He did it. Who am I to interfere with the God-man's work?
