The Army & Air Force & Reg. Navy have 12 months deployments - the Navy aircraft personnel has 18 months. The Marines do 6-7 month deployments.
Why? Orders from way up top.

I think the army has shorter deployments because their working conditions are rougher and nastier in general than the other branches, but I'm not sure. It would make sense, because it would encourage recruits to choose the harder branch in hopes of getting out sooner.

My husband, a marine, was in Iraq for 14 months. He came home for two weeks at his 7 month mark. Where do you get your information? Try finding the truth.

Already asked.
Who knows.
In Korea it's 13 months. In Vietnam it was 1 year.
Those are usually in areas considered "Hardship" tours.
You can't bring your family to Korea!
