Lots of people now days go around quoting Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code like it's fact when its not and doesn't even pretend to be, but people keep vs.ing it against the bible and other stuff when many of the things in the Code have been proven to be false. I do not understand.

Because most modern people are idiots. The fact that the Da Vinci Code even exists proves that. Also we have great books like "The Darwin Awards" (great couple of books if you want something to read) that prove beyond a reasonable doubt that most people are idiots.

To paraphrase Leigh Teabing in "The Da Vinci Code": The Bible was not faxed by God from Heaven to Earth. That is a fact. It was written by men, edited by men, translated by men, and is interpreted by men. There are parts of the Bible that have been contradicted and/or proven to be greatly exaggerated. "The Da Vinci Code" has never been called anything but a work of fiction, but some of the ideas are based on actual theories. I am a Christian, and I follow the teachings of Christ, but I am also open to the possibility that there is more to the story than what we are told in the Bible.

You believe the bible is fact because your religion taught you too...
It does have some historical significance but who can say if everything in the bible is fact as it was written by humans. In fact, there are over 80 other books of the bible that were not selected to be in the bible. Not to mention, no one can really translate ancient Hebrew anymore. The last translation of the bible changed some of the scriptures, for example: There is a passage that says "Vanity..all is vanity...which now reads Vapor..all is vapor." Big difference....I have always believed that the bible is more of a guide then a factual word for word account of history. Think about how many things it does not explain.
So fact? Perhaps...some of it..maybe all of it...it really depends on what you believe. Same with Da Vinci code...perhaps he has yet another interpretation of things...

The world is seriously concerned and the Christian World (especially the Roman Catholic Church) is hurt through a book of an individual that contains his own manipulations. That too on a subject of more than two thousand years old with no adequate evidence for the views he has.
Dan Brown is nothing but a cunning writer where he found a safe base to start his game. The base from where he started his book is already well known to the whole world and so he had no doubt that his book would a best seller. His mind is nothing better than that of a crazy street boy who tries to spoil or tarnish a sculpture or a statue or a painting that was admired by rest of the world. He succeeded in doing it. The act can be compared with that of the Talibans who destroyed the Budha’s statue. Here, I am not comparing their aims.
Now to the Christian world and the Roman Catholic Church I have a question. If your God is powerful, why don’t you leave the matter to Him to handle? Is not your almighty God powerful enough to handle a Dan Brown, if his views are against Him?
Dan Brown, Salman Rushdie, Kazantzakkis etc.are all such writers who had another indirect aim in their minds that fame is easy when they try to tarnish a famous matter. Keeping aside their literary talents there is nothing worth admiring. But they succeeded and the media and whole world are being fooled. Moreover, when one religion is insulted the rest rejoice. This is another key point of their success.

Why do people so readily believe in the bible, which is ancient fiction, over Da Vinci Code, modern fiction with twists of actual facts in history?

either sheer ignorance or not wanting to deal w/ the fact that god holds them accountable for their conduct during their lives , unless saved and under grace. which is why the followers of some other religions are so devout its easy when sin isn't part of the equation it says that ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of god davinci codes premise is that if jesus has a descendant bloodline then the whole gospel is false

For the same reason that people began their belief in Jesus as our savior. Prior to that time people worshipped the sun god, Mirtha. It is a fact that the Vatican was built upon the grounds previously devoted to the worship of Mithra (600 B.C.). The Orthodox Christian hierarchy is nearly identical to the Mithraic version. The Messianic idea originated in ancient Persia and this is where the Jewish and Christian concepts of a Savior came from. Mithra, as the sun god of ancient Persia, had the following karmic similarities with Jesus. Or, maybe Jesus is really the archangel Michael as discussed in the book of Urantia. Do some research. You'll be amazed.

OK are you sure the bible is 100% fact. what about the last supper and the decibel on Jesus left being his wife. The Davinci Code is not the first time I've heard that one. Now don't take me wrong theres thing that I believe and things that I don't'. But I have never seen a proved fact that the bible is 100% fact. Have you?

why are you so sure that the bible is fact? dan brown as well as many others have done extensive research on this topic. people have accepted the bible as truth for centuries because it gives them something to believe. they choose to believe it because they need so badly to believe in something. if it gives you some sense of hope, then by all means believe the bible as fact. but dont knock those that would actually like some proof first.

I know I agree with u!when Christ comes back those people r going to be regreting beliveing that junk!why believ something that was just created over the bible soemthing tha's been around since the begining of time?if the bible is amde up how did it last for all these thousands of years?it's real and people need to get that through there heads!cause christ died for us all and so many people refuse to belive that
