I have really bad allergies. Does anyone have any tips on how to keep them in control? I am taking Clariton, doesn't seem to do much. I sneez, have runny stuffy nose, cough and my ears and throat itch like crazy. Help!

I get them too. I did the generic claritin. Trick is, for the first week take 2 a day. one in the morning when you get up, the other before you go to bed. At the start of the second week, go down to just one a day, BUT take it at the same time each day. In addition, might try a nasal spray, allergy eye drops, and a air purifier for your bedroom. You can find them fairly cheap at Target or Big Lots.

I have bad allergies to cats and most dogs; probably to some other stuff too I just never got tested. I take a generic brand of Claritan - the brand Eckard produces. I take one every night, and since I've started taking them (about a month ago) they've stayed under control. My cat doesn't bother me anymore, even when she sleeps at my head.
If yours are that bad, I'd think you might want to go to a doctor and get a stronger treatment like possibly shots or a steroid. Don't over-lap your pills or take a lot of stuff, that won't do you any good but seriously hurt you.
Are you taking the Claritan regularly? Or just when you feel like the allergies may be affecting you? I have the 24hr pills and take one every night, that way they stay under control.
Good luck!

I use a combo of clariton, sudifed, and tylenol cold and sinus. Its a lot of drugs to take but it works. Just keep a full stomach so you don't get sick. Only take one dose of the Clariton at the beginning of your day since its so strong.

Go see a allergy specialist, not a general doctor, but a specialist. I take Allegra and Singular and I am not bothered very much by my allergies. I used to work on a golf course even through I was allergic to about everything on it. And I did fine.

try Nasal Crom----it is at Walmart the cheapest and the best part is you do not have to have a Dr. prescription....go ahead and buy the bigger spray bottle...this does not go thru your liver and does not cause ANY side effects...just be sure to remember to use is at LEAST twice a day...with 4 hrs in between each use....IT MAY TAKE A WEEK TO BUILD UP in your system, but this is the best things I have ever used after 40 years of allergies!!!! blessings!!

Do you have Tree Pollen allergy ??

Try Homeopathic medicine, www.elixirs.com have some very good allergy medicines for Tree Pollen and even for Children's allergy. There are absolutely no side effects. You may need to take it for little extended period so it can build up your immune efficiency. But if you need absolute immediate relief first then you can take the other allergy medicines also for short period.

Drink plenty of water. Also, try getting a prescription for Allegra. It usually works for people when Claritin doesn't. If you want natural relief, try this website: http://www.allergyescape.com/natural-allergy-treatment.html
It has supplements you can take to reduce symptoms as well as specific allergy info.
