I often see Christians in here challenging atheists to prove the non existance of god. They see this as a way of proving god does exist. Their logic seems to be this : If you can't prove for sure that god does not exist, well then he must exist !

So, on to my question.

Christians, can you prove non existance of invisible fairies who fly around in the clouds all day ?

I don't want bible verses, I just want an answer to the above question about the invisible fairies.

thank you lam_9 for making absolutely no attempt to answer the question. Is it because you can't answer the question that you push your superstitious fairytales on me ?

An invisible fairy took a crap on my head yesterday. I know this because fairy poo is different from bird poo. Damn you invisible fairies!

Sure.

I guess I can't totally disprove the existence of fairies, but there are ways to check. If Fairies have form then there would many types of motion detection we could go up into the clouds and see if we see movements. If Fairies have a body heat there are heat detection sensors that we could use to see if they are up there. The list goes on and on.

As to the relation between being unable to prove God exist versus being unable to disprove Fairies existence. I personally don't view God as a big guy with a long white beard, God is the force that binds the universe together. There are countless things that have happened that Science can explain how they happened but not why they happened.

Even the Big Bang, nothing says why in one moment there is a big bang, why that moment why not three seconds sooner or eight eons later, something chose for things to happen when and how they happened. Even in the complexity of the chaos theory it says that even with total chaos if you look at it far enough way you will see patterns, why? These all sound like the actions of a conscious being or force, perhaps beyond the understanding of our simple human minds.

God is much bigger than Fairies.

I understand your question and I am a christian and I agree that those who use that kind of reasoning are illogical in thought. What is easier is to show the complete order of things that are not controlled by man. Look at the perfect order in the universe. Scientists have discovered that everything has its order and is precise. And the human body, including the eye are masterpìeces. I would say that the logical question is what chance mathamatically is that you could have all this order by mere chance? I think the chance of that is so low that it is considered impossible. I recognize from a purely emotional state, that it is not possible to prove either way the existence of God or a God. You can however by evidence all around you that certain things exist. We know that gravity exists for instance, but we don't know how. We can't literally see it, but we can see it in action. With the condition of mankind these days and what he has done to the earth and to others, I can understand why someone would doubt an existence of any supreme being. But what has happened is because of man. Maybe we are not given to fantasies and we must see everything to believe it. That is ok, some people are like that. No problem. But if we can look at it without prejudice one way or the other and just look at the perfection in nature and in the universe, we would have to admit that there is a master scientist of some sort out there. And why not? Why dispel it just because we can't see him or it? To do so, my friend, might be of the same emotional illogical state that you accuse the christians of. But for some reason, I think you are a logical person and that is why you don't understand the way some uninformed christians support their belief. So I have faith, yes faith, that you might look into the scientific wonders of everything around us and ponder for a minute if there is anything wrong with believing there must be someone directing all of this.

What are the purpose of the fairies? Do they talk to you? Did the fairies create the earth? Do they have a son that came down through generations to die on a cross for you?

Your right, the fairies are invisible, so who can say if they are real or not, but Jesus was not invisible, so your theory about God is void, because Jesus is God.

The existance of God Has Ample proof in every way "Science & law" carries the burden to prove a matter.

Having Acceptance of the Proof of God, or the Rejecting of the Proof comes down to one simple word FAITH!

if you have faith in little blue fairies then go right ahead. I just Hope you will remember when you need a miriacle that only God can do the Impossible.

I hav enever heard a blue Fairy healling cancer or raising a dead man? But it has been scientifially proven that Jesus can.

The difference is that the atheists are always trying to make us prove that God is real. So why not turn the tables? No one is debating the existence of fairies.

Everybody knows (or ought to know) that you can't prove a negative statement. The point of saying such a thing is not to prove that God exists, but simply to point out that you can't be sure He doesn't exist, and that your certainty on that point is irrational. Be an agnostic by all means if you choose, but no less than that. Atheism is impossible to prove.

Iam_9 seems to only be doing this now. I tried to have rational intercourse with him, but alas, his email has not been verified. I did think he actually had something to say, but now I am in agree-ance with you. He avoids questions and just spouts, so is obviously just delusional.
The possibility of creation by means of genetic experiment by extraterrestrial intelligence, other than an omnipresent, immortal godhead, holds more sway with me than any current mainstream religion-I'd even go so far as to say 'the truth is out there'! (lol)

As to the question, I'm no christian, but I can still not disprove Fairies!

People say all the time on here that you can't prove a negative and I think that is an urban myth.

Don't you think it would be pretty easy even in the esoteric language of logic to prove that there is no elephant in the room?

No one goes around believing, proving, or disproving the existence of fairies. That is evidence that they do not exist.
And if they do nobody cares because they have no impact on our morality, or moral standards.

If there is a case to be pleaded, it is by the theist. The basic atheism definition is someone without belief in a god or gods. If you make a statement - "I know that God exists." You have to give rational points to support that statement. If another person says, "I do not necessarily believe that." They have nothing to prove! Your failure to give rational reasons for believing is their success in this case.
